Nothing in particular. I was just wondering if I could speed the process up.
Oh, I see.
Please post (or link to a post with) your computer specs.
We might be able to find some extra wiggle-room.

On the bottom of the back of my BD covers, I'm putting "'Despecialized' Restoration by HARMY" under the credits.
Should it say "preservation", "restoration", or "remaster" or anything different instead? I 'm not sure I want to put "edition". This is the theatrical edition in HD. Somehow saying "edition" makes it sound more like an edit, which it is not.
"Theatrical Restoration (Despecialized) by Harmy, Remastered" seems to be most accurate.
Just make sure not to say preservation.

It occurs to me that it's not simply a remaster, as a remaster implies that there was a singular previous master which was reworked. This was stitched, spliced and recolored from various sources. It's a restoration to the original version... but then it's also remastered to HD, as neither the original nor any other version to come afterward ever looked this good.
Then again, it's obviously remastered, and it's a remaster of itself kinda (ie. v2.1/2.5), so maybe the credit "and Remaster" isn't necessary.
I could just put "Restored and Remastered by HARMY" without the "Despecialized", but then how does that help other people to know where this awesomeness came from if they go looking for it?

Han D. SoloWell, remaster actually means (or it should) creating a new master from scratch. Which is why I called v2.0 DeEd Remastered; it's not a remaster of SW, it's a remaster of the Despecialized Edition.

Incidentally, if I were extremely nitpicky about it looking professional, I'd have a thing about wanting to put Harmy's real name there. However, 1) again, that doesn't help people find it online and 2) Harmy may appreciate his anonymity, given the whole underground nature of this sort of thing.
Then again, I do know what Adywan's name is.
But it's probably really rude to ask, so I'll just leave it "Harmy".

Yeah, leaving it at that should be good... I'd say that's fair to keep such things to one's self and not be posting all over the internets.
That's a decent laptop, btw, speed of encoding is really dependent on the CPU more than anything else. Only other thing would be USB limitations - if you're stuck at 2.0 on the machine, that's as fast as you can get, unless you had an add-on card that did 3.0.
Any further thoughts on the menu/disc construction? All the reading I've done over that past day makes it seem like it's a little more work than DVD authoring..
Harmy

Han D. SoloI do actually have an add on USB3 card. Unfortunately only one of my USB3 HDDs works with it.
The GPU's pretty bad, but I don't really play games, so it's not that much of a problem. 3D effects in After Effects are pretty slow but I don't use those much either.
As to the menu, I was actually thinking about MultiAVHCD but I'm not sure what its capabilities are or how complicated it is. I do have Adobe Encore, that came with Premiere CS5.5 but I can't quite seem to figure it out.
Another question, I found out that dts-hd doesn't play on my system, neither as a separate file, nor muxed in with a movie. Why could this be?

Probably wants the 'official' codec, generally available on blu ray software like arcsoft, powerdvd etc..
Some good info here: http://www.makemkv.com/dtshd/
"The dtsdecoderdll.dll is part of Arcsoft TMT player software. So, if you are using Windows and have TMT installed, you already have the DLL - just set its path in MakeMKV preferences. If you don't have TMT installed, you can always download a free trial from Arcsoft website. Once you install the program, the DLL will be in program directory. You don't have to even run the program once. You may as well copy the DLL from TMT directory and uninstall TMT completely. If you use Mac or Linux, you may install TMT on a separate windows machine, in bootcamp or inside virtual machine, and copy the DLL from there.
If you don't have access to Windows machine, several internet sites offer this DLL as a free download. Just search for "dtsdecoderdll.dll" and you'll certainly find one. As mentioned before, MakeMKV will safely refuse to load any modified version of dtsdecoderdll.dll ."
edit: that's cool you have full usb 3 capability :) should be pretty fast to use that drive, almost as if it were another SATA drive.

Han D. SoloThanks, I'll look into it. I was curious about it, because I used to be able to play dts-hd without problems. It must be because I uninstalled Power DVD - I could re-install it but I don't want that horrible piece of sh.. software anywhere near my computer.

MultiAVCHD has the advantage - alongside being free, of course - of making completely compatible BDs from a range of different sources (including existing BD folders). Having said that, I've found its menu interface limiting - it has a somewhat fixed toolbox, which is fine for basic front-ends but not hugely flexible for tailored presentations (e.g. audio selection is only available via a pop-up menu with preset design).
Encore, on the other hand, is far more versatile but doesn't like open-GOP x264 video - it chokes on import (as I found when attempting to make a fancy menu for your own SW:D). If we can overcome this in some way I'm happy to lend a hand - Encore's a fiddly mistress but great once you get the hang of it.

Han D. SoloAudio selection menu will be important in this case, because it will need to identify not just language but also the different mixes and commentaries and stuff.

I agree with what Jonno said about multiAVCHD. It works well, but I always found it clunky and don't like using it.
If open GOPs are a problem for Encore, it's easy enough to close them.

Yes, provided it's BD legal (at least, according to Adobe's definitions!)
edit: I just did a quick test using your latest encode. Encore hangs (indeed, locks up my PC entirely) when trying to use either the m2ts or the demuxed .264. Bummer.
I don't know much about x264 other that its Handbrake implementation - is closing the GOPs for a new encode an easy (and non-destructive) option as Chewie suggests?

I am ready for the trials!I've had no luck importing x264.exe-generated videos into Encore either, which is really stupid. Also it's the only authoring tool I'm really familiar with, so I think I have to resort to some other solution to at least get a pop-up menu for audio selection for the German Blu-ray.

GOUT suffererI think the latest XBMC is supposed to be able to play DTS HD-MA, though under Windows I don't have the slightest clue if it'd work out of the box or if you'd have to find the right codec first.

GOUT suffererChyron, you could go with "Theatrical Reconstruction" or "Re-creation" if "Restoration" doesn't sit well with you.
Also, if you want it to look a bit more professional, I'd suggest trying to fit the credits text within the middle black area, as it is noticeably more legible there than once you get into the fancy grey sides.
Harmy

Han D. SoloYeah, that's probably why it looks so unprofessional to me - the rest is official looking, the text overlaping to those ares is not.
