Please do it Harmy Phantom Menace may not be liked but it deserves to have a theatrical release too. Why is PT sooo pink seriously Lucasfilm? I kinda wish you'd do AOTC too.

Adywan did a TPM theatrical reconstruction a while back. It's not in HD, but it looks awesome. I'd suggest looking into that.

I made a new SW:DE cover for myself by cannibalizing other cover art, posters and such. I know there's another thread for this, but I didn't know how often people visit it.

I like the idea of it saying it's the original theatrical version (which it is) on the box, instead of "Despecialized." I thought it would go over well with my family and friends should I give them a copy of the DEED trilogy.

It's like it's quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it's not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso's brush techniques.

If you wanted to preserve the Prequels, then get a group together and grab a 35mm print, they are around $1000 so it would be quite doable.

If I hadn't blown all my money on ANH sources, I'd be grabbing the PT for around $3000 and scanning it from a release print.

I like it, except for the words "Episode IV A New Hope"

Is "A New Hope" something new? I thought this movie was called "Star Wars"...

WTF.

Just remove "A New Hope" and all is good for the cover art.

Meh, as far as I'm concerned, as long as it isn't tainting the movie itself, it isn't a huge deal if Episode IV and A New Hope are on the cover, it gives consistency with the other covers if nothing else...  There's little denying that IV is where it lands in the line-up, after all.

People need to stop asking Harmy to remaster the prequels. The fact that he's doing something that should have been done in the first place is what really matters. And to even begin to imagine the thought of someday owning the original trilogy completely re-done the way it was meant to be seen makes this dream a reality. Anyways, Thank you Harmy.

For me, it strikes the exact same wrong note as the "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" cover art.  Yeah, it's not on the movie itself in that case either (thank goodness!), but the fact remains it's simply not the name of the movie.  For many years, many fans believed that Star Wars was Episode I and that they skipped a few episodes before Empire.  If we're re-creating the theatrical experience, wondering about those missing episodes is certainly part of it.

I'm sorry, but if you are willing to spend that kind of scratch on the PT, you should be kept away from money for your own good.

Agreed on being kept away from his money.  Disagreed on the removal of the Episode IV A New Hope, at least to the point that it isn't an option...  I'd say that both IV and purist versions of the same cover should be available, so people can choose between consistency and correctness when they print their own set.

Just remember that the film itself doesn't have the EPISODE IV A NEW HOPE part.

You guys are fighting about cover art -- made by a fan no less, not Harmy himself. Don't like having "A New Hope" in the title? Don't use chyron's, or better yet, make your own like dlvh just showed above. I mean I'm not against the option (and would prefer it without ANH), but this is definitely not worth debating to the extent you folks are getting into. At all.

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED is now released!!!

I fully remember that, but I also acknowledge that I grew up with the home video releases and am fully accustomed to the re-addition of Episode IV to the title (which Fox originally made them remove to, understandably, eliminate confusion; though makes it a legitimate "original vision").  If all that was changed (as it was in the VHS days, ignoring a few audio alterations) was the addition of JUST that, then things wouldn't be as big a deal as they are; it is the CF of changes that occurred 1997 and onwards that led to this rightful backlash.  Regardless of what is on screen (and I'm perfectly fine with it being the theatrical take), the choice of cover content should be flexible enough to allow for saga consistency for those who want it.

bkev, you say that, but there're also people giving a guy crap for something he worked hard on, when only a bit of input is actually necessary...

I did not think we were fighting?

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED is now released!!!

So what would you rather be put in place of "A New Hope"? (I'm seriously asking.)

"Despecialized"?   That makes it look less official, in my opinion. I want to have a box set that is absolutely definitive and no one looking at it would question whether it's official. This isn't a fanedit. It's a remaster.

When someone watches my original Star Wars trilogy, I want them to ask where I got it from--not why it says "Despecialized" on the box.

I'm also doing cover art for ESB and ROTJ in a similar (ie. almost identical) fashion to my SW cover. Should I have episode numbers on their spines? They do have numbers in the crawls, but that doesn't required them to be on the box art.

EDIT: Harmy, I'm not meaning to pick at you for using the word "Despecialized." To me, the project is called Despecialized, but the end product is simply an unofficial remaster of the OOT. It removes the words "Special Edition" from the movies, to leave behind just plain old Star Wars (in HD!).

And yeah, I wouldn't classify this as fighting either, more likely debating...

Chyron8472, I really want the versions of the covers you have in mind.  I personally agree with your stance on "official" looking covers over anal adherence to particulars.  Though it might be good to supply an array of cover versions to appease the masses...

I'm going to go with something like this.  Nice and official looking with no episode numbers.

Okay. =p

I liked that "A long time ago" blurb on dlvh's spine.

My ultimate personal intent (for my own self) is to have an official looking box set wherein I will have 3 bluray cases for the OT which include Ady's SE's and Harmy's OOT's (just like the 2006 DVD cases have both SE and GOUT); and 3 cases for Q2's (aka. thunderclap's) "Fall of the Jedi" prequel fan edits in similarly official-looking (and matching) cases. I find that Q2's prequel edits actually make the prequels good, in my opinion. Good enough, in fact, to permanently replace my theatrical versions.

I have two problems with myself doing that: 1) It doesn't match any prequel box art; and 2) The OOT movies are wonderful enough to each deserve their own box.

Also, available cover art for ESB and ROTJ just screams at me to have to use them.

I like the idea of Despecialized and Revisited in the same case. Perhaps we could get a cover designed specifically for that purpose...
