Git is the best revision control system ever created, far superior to Subversion and other competitors.
I don't know... I still prefer Hg for DVCS.

Hi.
I'm also a Mac user and I use Ivi, available on the Mac App Store for a few bucks (about €4 if I remember correctly). It has a very good Quality/Size ratio. Only downside is you can't convert DVD ripped as a VIDEO_TS folder. So now I'm using MakeMKV to rip them, but that's another story. I can tell it works, I have the despecialized trilogy in my iTunes library.
For playing Mkvs on an Apple TV without RE-encoding, you can try Video stream if you own an iOS device (don't forget to install the Mac client).
Both solutions work great. Hope it helps.
Yikes...that's a hell of a chore to go through just to play a common video format. I don't get the appeal (or 'Apple-eal' if you will) of AppleTV. For the same price you can pick up a halfway decent media streamer that can mount a 3tb drive internally, connect USB3, stream wifi or wired from the home network, doesn't care if you use iTunes or not, AND can cope with virtually every codec ever used (except the original MP4 AVI codec - damn you, DAP MST3K episodes!!!!! DAAAAAMN YOOOOOOOOO!!!!). I'll admit I may just not have heard about it, is there something AppleTV actually does that makes it a better choice in any circumstance?

Agreed. I'm a Mac user...Macbook Pro, iPhone, iPad, but when it came to TV, I passed on the AppleTV and picked up a WDTV Live. I can connect my 3TB hard drive right to it, still stream from my Mac, and it plays ever video format and codec I've thrown at it, flawlessly (including all of Harmy's masterful releases).
When ATV has those capabilities, I might switch. But right now even a jailbroken ATV can't compete with the WDTV.

What is going to be different between Star Wars 2.0 and 2.1 and does Star Wars 2.1 have priority of Empire Strikes Back 2.0 right now?
Well, actually, the new version of SW will be quite different. I think I'll end up calling it v2.5 or something, as it won't be done from scratch like v2.0 was but it will have enough new/different stuff to be quite a different beast altogether.

...a few new CG background creature antics, a surprise new scene visiting with Bea Arthur's sultry cantina-owner/siren (ggggrrrrrrr!)...dancing banthas...maybe tweak the colour timing to make it fit in with LOST a little better...you know, just some subtle differences and changes. It'll be the classic you remember from Fall of 2012, but new and improved!

If you don't call it v2.1 or v3.0, then the public is going to be confused where the missing versions are inbetween.
Unless you intend to release lots more versions, I would suggest v3.0 fits in well with the scheme so far for major releases as it's more than a bugfix for wonky audio (v2.1 would have been the audio corrected mkv).

I would normally agree with this, but I think it will create more confusion because everyone will be wondering why they have v3.0 of Star Wars, but v2.0 of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
2.1/2.0/2.0 seems less confusing to me than 3.0/2.0/2.0.
Many are confused by the current 2.0/1.0/1.0.

Haha, fun times. Rolls off the tongue so smoothly, you just can't help but say it with a smile ;)
Whatever it ends up being called, it'll be awesome. 2.1 or 2.5 still seem like good ideas that make sense. Agree that a 3.0 would be a little uncalled for. 2.1-2.4 could simply be "internal" revisions that were never released, so a 2.5 makes sense.
For now, we have:
1.0 AVCHD
2.0 AVCHD
2.0 MKV
In the next wave, we'll see whatever first, main, huge, best, "this is it" format, hopefully followed by an AVCHD, as it's still a nice format for various reasons.
All I know, is that I have a blank blu ray just waiting for some very worth data (and wouldn't mind mailing Harmy a few as a thank you)
Harmy
This user is offline.
Han D. SoloThat wouldn't be bad actually. I'm almost through all of my blank BDs backing up other data, so I'd have enough space for the editing and I still want to backup the work data from v2.0 and v2.5 for possible later use. Right now this amounts to around 500-600GB, though if I go through it, I'm sure to discover a lot of duplicity and a lot of unnecessary files but at a guess, I'll need to back up at least 200GB and I'd prefer to back it up twice to make sure nothing is lost. So to do this I'm gonna need a hell of a lot of blank BDs. I can buy some of course but they're still pretty expensive, so some blanks would be a great help.

Padawan Learner2.1 fits perfectly. It's tells a person downloading it that it is Harmy's second version revised - and even if in reality it is somewhat heavily modified from 2.0. This helps keep it in line with his 2nd take on ESB and ROTJ.
I would guess that 3.0 would be a 1080p version - perhaps a hybrid of the bluray and the Saving Star Wars project?

I agree that 2.1 is the least confusing.

Yep, that's a lot of data to archive off.. Also, yes, always good to have a couple copies, even though newer blu ray blanks are a little nicer.
