Hi all. I've been reading the entire thread over the last couple of weeks. It's been epic!
Harmy - thanks for everything you've done, and the time and effort you have spent doing this work. I'm looking forward to a time when my son is old enough to watch Star Wars, and you can be sure that the Despecialized Edition is the one that he will be exposed to :)
I have read the thread, and I know we should be asking specific people for myspleen invites, but given the last few posts - are there still any going on here? I missed the open signup over christmas.
Thanks again Harmy.

I could use some help. I downloaded the AVCHD file but I can't play it on my Mac (can't burn either as I haven't ordered my Blu-Ray burner yet). Anyone able to get 2.0 on a mac that might be able to assist?
I'm using a 2012 Macbook Pro, 10.8.2 OS X, 8 gigs Ram, 2.6 GHz.

You should be able to burn a dual layer dvd from the AVCHD iso/files... no need for a blu ray burner.
As for playback, look in the 'stream' folder and try playing the .m2ts file with VLC - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

All of this Episode VII news has me excited to relive my childhood. Could anyone provide me with a myspleen invitation? Thank you in advance.

Undead PixelHarmy I read a couple pages back that you wanted to do Blu-ray menus for the 2.1 release are you still planning on doing that? What will be in the menus? Are they going to be those cool blu-ray menus that pop up during the movie and have sound effects and stuff or is that something only available to the big studios? Looking forward to 2.1 I've enjoyed your previous work and I've even given out the Blu-ray trilogy to some video game podcasters to talk about in their mailbag monday segment.

Padawan LearnerYes. He will be doing menus. A while back you could download a clip and it is pretty sweet I might add. As for the rest I am now sure.
looking for HDTV of the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Han D. SoloYes, I do plan to do pop-ups and such but I'm not yet quite sure if I'll be able to.

Hi, I've had no problem watching 2.0 using VLC Player on my Mountain Lion iMac. Analog gave great suggestions. The only thing I might add is that to access the .m2ts file inside an AVCHD structure, you might have to right/control click it and pick "show package contents." (I'm not at my Mac, so I'm going by memory here.) Then open the stream folder as Analog suggested. The video file is in there. Incidentally, that same file will work perfectly on a PS3, if you have one. Hope this helps! =D
What can you get a Wookiee for Life Day Christmas when he already owns a comb?

I'm sure this has probably been asked before but which Star Wars dvd's would I need to own to download the 1.0 despecialized editions? I already have the 2004 dvds.

It doesn't matter, as owning any DVDs doesn't make it legal in any way.

Better Grumpy than DopeyAs far as this forum is concerned, you should own the Blu-ray release.

Anyone with an open myspleen invite? Many thanks!

I'm hesitant to PM myspleen invites because I often only check in every other day or so and assume that I've already been beaten to it. If Harmy wishes, I'm happy for him to add my name to the first post, inviting people to PM me with a request. I get e-mailed PM notifications so I should respond within a reasonable time frame.
EDIT: All invites now exhausted. Sorry!

I'm downloading the current version (v2.0) right now. I discovered the annoyance that is the CAPTCHA. For all yall, it's the thing that prompts you to "retype these letters" in JDownloader every 10-seconds.
Even after I go through the settings and check "Disable Automatic CAPTCHA" it still does it! This is a real buzzkill. I can't just sit at my computer for 10hrs typing this over and over again. It keeps interrupting the download.
Anyone know how to do away with it for good?

What the heck are you talking about, Laserschwert?
Are you telling her that downloading any fanedits whatsoever is illegal, no matter what form of media one owns a copy of the original work on?
Not only is this not true (it's profiting from the fanedits that is illegal), but you might as well have told her to stick it and to go away.

It's like it's quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it's not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso's brush techniques.

Han D. SoloWell, it is technically illegal to download copyrighted material from the internet no matter that you already bought it in some other form - owning the source makes it more morally ok, than legally and that is why it's a part of the forum rules.

Good luck proving that in court.

Copyright laws vary from country to country, as do provisions for fair use. That should have been the first question asked if we were having a serious conversation. But ultimately this endeavor is grey-market at best and the most practical conversation would be less about legality and more about how to minimize risk. Owning source material (DVDs, etc) could potentially be used as a defense to mitigate damages should legal action be taken. Depends on how good your lawyer is and about a million other factors (method of acquisition, jurisdiction of legal proceedings, jury/not jury, etc).

Amen Mr. 'box'
on another note, downloaded V2.0 MKV and have been trying to switch the MKV container to an mp4 or m4v container to play over Apple TV. I do not want to Handbreak the file (transcode) because I don't want to lose quality etc. I have tried MP4Tools & SUBLER then if doesn't play? Thinking some audio files within the V2.0 are incompatible?! Anyone could direct me to a success story that would be greatly appreciated.
