Hey Harmy, just wondering if you think you'll have the BD ready by Christmas. I'm hoping to be giving this as a gift to almost everyone I know.
That sounds like an awesome plan !

Lost JediOMG! I just read this on Reuters' Twitter account. I hope this is a joke but it sounds legit:
"Star Wars" episode seven will come out in 2015, Disney says
I don't know what to think about it. If it's true, let's hope it's minimum as good as Revenge of the Sith, the only prequel I enjoy.
"Let's face it, the Ewoks sucked, dude" -Hurley, Lost 5x13-Some like it Hoth.
Please bear with me if I tend to get too excited about anything or say too much, I have issues.

Yep, Disney aquired Lucasfilm today, maybe now we will get the original unaltered on an official blu ray release??

And Disney may just shut all of this down. Lucas has been very generous about letting these fan editing projects go forward unmolested by cease and desist notices and lawsuits. I wonder... will disney be so nice?

The question is did Lucas put a big, fat clause in there that prohibits Disney to release the OT in their original form? Perhaps his pride has always prohibited him from doing what we want but passing everything over to Disney will be a backdoor way for him to acquiesce.

GOUT suffererHopefully Disney isn't harder on fan versions than Lucasfilm alone was... If so the future despecialized editions might need to be discussed less publicly. Also, I have great hope now that an official unaltered trilogy will see the light of day in HD, but Harmy's version still needs to happen, not just because the Special Editions are a wrong we still need to prove to Lucas that we can right on our own, but because no studio is going to be nearly so exacting as us super-fans. If we get the holy grail of official releases, there could still be color timing issues, or minor to less than minor tweaks, the "wrong" scrolling text, or just whatever that we don't end up liking; at that point, all the effect I see that having on this project is a 1080p source for a v3.0 to be based off of. We can call it Anal Star Wars (or hopefully something much better, haha). Stharmy Wars?
I look forward greatly to the v2.1, I can't wait for my investment in a Blu-ray burner to finally pay off. Also, I do agree with something Innsmouthian said above and hope you will consider it, removable subtitles for the alien languages I feel would be a very welcome addition to v2.1 and beyond. Not only do burned-in English subtitles greatly interfere with foreign language subtitles, but it also makes the video difficult to use for any other projects and interferes with those who would like to control placement of subtitles (rather them in the black bars, etc.). It is nice that you nail the original font (though I don't know if the v1 placement was ideal, it seemed too high on the screen and with more than one line of text the top line seemed too long compared to the bottom line, top heavy, if you will). Plus, I want all those scenes as pure as possible, and subtitles that someone else put there and cannot be removed feels like a tweak, edit or addition, which the despecialization shouldn't be about. Well, that's my two cents, I look forward to v2.1 regardless.

My understanding is that Fox still retains the rights to the OT, so it's business as usual as far as getting an unmolested version out to home video.
So, still looking forward to the Harmy Bluray to meet needs in the near future.
My concern is that the studios have massively increased their DMCA takedown process on both file sharing and usenet services recently, so it may be difficult to actually obtain a complete version when Harmy releases it. I have heard of other material being taken down within minutes of its release.

Keep up the great work Harmy! :)

Hi Harmy,
Great to hear about the BD releases. Please tell me, will fixed subtitles (like Jabba's or Greedo's) be merged with the video track or added as a standalone subtitle track?.
Thank you very much.
PS: I downloaded the MKV ~7GB torrent versions of the films. Will BD-releases be far different from these?. On the other side, I don't know if the SW version I have is the last you've published.

Han D. SoloThe subtitles will stay the same as they are in the current mkv and AVCHD.
There was never any 7GB mkv - the mkv is 15GB and the AVCHD is 7.9GB.
There will only be minor fixes made to the BD release but there will be quite a few, plus some interesting bonus material.

If you're talking about the mkv, it uses the password given here. Not sure about the AVCHD though.

Hey Harmy I love the color correction you've done for Remastered. And I know you'll do a great job for Empire and Jedi. So I have to ask will you please please please color correct the Prequels. They look so terrible Phantom Menace is pink and magenta, Clones is green and orange, and Sith is I don't know. Please Harmy no one else has done it and Adywan is still years away from editing the Prequels.

Han D. SoloAdy did a color corrected version of TPM HDTV and afaik, the colours of the BD transfer of TPM are fine (it's DVNRed to hell of course but that is another matter). For AOTC, there are plenty of HDTV captures still floating around with the unf*cked colours and ROTS looks great on BD. So, no, I will not be doing anything with the prequels, except maybe a despecialized edition of TPM.
