Just wanted to add my many thanks to Harmy for all of his efforts!
I saw all 3 originals on VHS when I was pretty young, and I didn't really remember anything about them other than that I saw them. I didn't see the original trilogy again until 2004 when the DVDs came out, and since I hadn't seen the VHS versions for so long, I didn't have a clue what was different about them. I finally decided to track them down online and see what all the complaining about the special editions was about. I was expecting the best I'd find was some pretty poor quality stuff, until I stumbled my way into here. Now I know how much better the originals were than the special editions. Fantastic work Harmy!
I've shown them to some friends and they can't believe the quality. Very much looking forward to the BD.

If only the Ronto could die more painfully... oh well.
Does this mean we're approaching the big day? If you don't do it soon, we're just going to find more frames that need despecializing...

It warms my heart to see posts like these.
My biggest problem with the SEs isn't that they exist, but that they were really half-assed. Lots of missing stars = BIG problem in post-processing!

Before seeing the movie, I got the comic adaptation which featured a scene after the bacta tank with the medical droid taking a bandage off of Luke's face. I saw it in the theater and said "that's not what it looked like in the comic book!" Other people who saw the movie at the same theater commented on the scene as well referring to the bandage as a "sheet of ice."
The footage of the bandage removal is indeed included in one or two of the early trailers, before the massive task of cutting the film together began. It is possible that you saw the trailer in the theater some time before the film, then, well you know the rest.
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

really?
according to this...

However, an ellipses and no period can be used at the end of a sentence fragment to indicate that it is purposefully incomplete.

or are you talking about capitalization?
because i don't capitalize the 'i's' either.
