As mentioned before, keep any technical faults you find confined to pm's to Harmy. You're ruining it for other people.
He said that because 2.0 was supposed to be finalized. He's now working on 2.1 so that changes things, don't you think?

Well, Harmy just posted the changes he's making so I guess he "ruined it" for everyone else too.
Look, I will go edit the post since Harmy's request has apparently been interpreted by everyone as "NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED", which I don't think he meant.

How would I go about removing some audio tracks from the MKV? I've been playing the movie on my laptop, connected to my TV with an HDMI out. It would be much easier if I could put the MKV on a USB drive and stick it in my BD player.
Unfortunately, the biggest USB drive I have is "16GB" (actually 14.9GB in real life), and the MKV is 16.06GB. I'm hoping if I strip away enough of the audio tracks I'll be able to get it under 14.9GB. Thanks.

You can use mkvtoolnix to easily remove audio tracks. The only problem you may run into is if your BD player can't read ntfs formatted drives, as fat32 only supports individual file size of up to 4gb.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what my BD player is capable of- we'll see what happens!

Ah I should've paid more attention to the thread. I apologize. Ignore what I said.

Before you spend time remuxing, just format your thumb drive as ntfs (if it isn't already), copy a mp3 or something onto it and see if your player can read it or if it gives an error.

Oh well, the manual for my BD player says it only supports FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32. But I will see if I can stream it from my laptop to my BD player.

If anyone would be kind enough to direct us to that AVCHD of v2.1 once it is available, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance. Harmy Rocks.

At this point, why bother?? Why not wait for version 3.9, or better yet, version 9999999999999.0
The only question is, will there ever be a final, definitive version??? And if so, when??
THAT is your first post? Welcome to the forum, I guess. Geez.

Han D. SoloThank you SilverWook. This is exactly why I was kinda apologizing for making another version, some people just approach this as if it was some kind of official release. So, let me repeat, I'm making these mainly for myself and I'm sharing them for free, so if I do decide to make v999999999999.0, it's my business and your choice to download it or not.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterI'm very curious how the Lucas apologists' sect will view Harmy's work? These rude posts that pop up make me wonder if that's where they are coming from - or even from Lucasfilm itself? Actually I am a bit surprised there hasn't been more of a bombardment, like an active disinformation campaign or even a denial of service attack.

I'm startled by the sense of entitlement on the part of the new (-ish?) folks.
I don't say much on these forums, or very often for that matter. But I will say to you, Harmy, that the work you're doing is pretty damn great. To see a fan (and if I recall, a current, busy student) doing the work to give Star Wars its due is a real treat.
I'll gladly follow along and download all the damn versions! What's more fun than a work-in-progress? After all, it's only hard drive space.
So I took the long way around to say thanks.

The versions of Star Wars by people like Harmy, Adywan, etc, are incredible! The time and skill that goes into these things just blows me away! I can't understand what anyone would have to complain about.
Besides, if you really do want to see something different in a Star Wars edit, you could always try your own edit! It's fun! I'm not too swift with computers (and I have a pretty old one) but I'm still managing to work on my own edit... and if I can figure it out, I'm sure almost anyone could. Less complainin' and more playin'!
Sorry... maybe a little off topic... Harmy, you RAWK!

I just completed downloading the fixed DVD-5 version from MS, and I have a question:
Has anyone noticed the cropping that is occurring on both the right and left sides of the frame? This is not present in any other version, and as best as I can tell, it is actual cropping. Information visible on the MKV, AVCHD, etc. is seemingly missing on the DVD-5.
I haven't seen any mention of this on MS or here. I just want to know if I'm nuts. If it helps, I've been using VLC to make comparisons.

Screens would be helpful. I don't think I realized this myself but I wasn't really looking that closely to the edges.
Aside: looks like I picked a good day not to follow the forum. Though I would prefer to have realized that Harmy was gonna release incremental updates, I cannot seriously begrudge him that. He is doing all of us here a service which most of us have neither the time nor the knowledge nor the patience to do ourselves. Some humility, please!

Will be malfunctioning within a day.Wow. Some people.
Anyway, regarding the impending BD 2.1. If it's at all possible, I would like to have the new covers and disc art available to me when it is ready so I can put it all together for sharing. Since the BD is obviously the largest size, my fiber-optic connection will come in handy to get 2.1 out there.
Harmy, my connection is once again yours when it's time. :)
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Doesn't know how to handle his new-found fameJust watched the 2.0 AVCHD in its entirety. AWESOME! The color timing was incredibly inconsistent from shot to shot, and I mean that as a huge compliment! It actually looked like a movie filmed in the 70s, like it SHOULD! Great job Harmy and everyone else who contributed. Darn great job!
The two things that still really jumped out at me in the original Despecialized as just not looking right were the crushed blacks and the lightsabers in the duel. They are SO much better it's incredible. I finally feel like I have a definitive version to watch that has nary a single thing to pull me out of the viewing experience.
Looking forward to 2.1, but even if that never happened 2.0 is just great!

It's not. The eight pixels of black bar on either side of the image are nominal analogue blanking. No cropping has occurred.
