Hey Harmy,
Is there a breakdown of all the changes you made to your remastered version of Star Wars? I remember you had originally released a powerpoint presentation along with the initial release of the despecialized edition, but didn't see one for this remastered version. Thanks.

What do I have to do to get the AVCHD on disc, having a Mac (my main goal being to create an .ISO)?

Han D. SoloIt already is ISO.

EDIT: I'm a foolish man. Found it; burning now. Harmy, this is stunning.
Hurm... When I un-rarred everything, a BDMV folder was created. I was a little confused, too, when it wasn't an .ISO (as I recall you making that known to us all.)

Jedi KnightHarmy,
I assume that audio will be fixed for the Blu-ray release?
Any idea when we can expect that version?
Thanks!! :)

I was going to ask for the AVCHD SHA-1, but that's moot now. But, whenever the fixed audio version is uploaded, it would be cool if you can also post the SHA-1 hash here. Thanks!

The audio options include all three 1977 mixes; the original 70mm six-track was recreated by hairy_hen, the original stereo
mix was captured from LaserDisc and the original mono mix was restored by Belbucus.
The changes that George Lucas has made over the years to Star Wars is the equivalent of someone keying your car. On an intellectual level, you know that the car still works, and its only marred a fraction of a percent of the paintjob. On an emotional level, every time you see it, it's all you can focus on, and it makes you want to rip someone's face off.

Han D. SoloActually, most of h_h's work was done in stereo using the 93 mix PCM, then that got a release and then it was upmixed and the LFE chanel was in the upmix was replaced with one that h_h made. OPr at least that's what I understand. Anyway, the stereo soundtrack listed there isn't h_h's mix at all, it's the original stereo captured from LD. I am afraid it may have been affected as well, becuase the problem apparently happened during AC3 encoding and I got the 77 stereo and mono mixes AC3 from h_h as well.

Reginald ScumOkay, I think I figured out what the problem was. My AC3 encoder has adjustable settings for dealing with the high frequency cutoff point, and I seem to have inadvertently done this wrongly. The AC3 format's lossy compression throws away the most detail in the highs, I believe, and the range is dependent on the bitrate used, so that's probably why it was so noticeable in the 448 but the 640 came through mostly unscathed.
I've encoded the mix over again at both bitrates, this time with correct settings, and the sound quality is much better as it should be. I'll be uploading them shortly, and the links will be posted in my thread—I highly recommend that anyone who downloaded the faulty tracks delete them and replace them with the new ones once they're up. I'm not sure if the stereo and mono I provided were also affected, but just to be safe I'll do them over as well.
Again, really sorry about this error. I can't even begin to describe how embarrassed I was when I noticed it, but I guess that's what I get for not listening closely enough. My classes were starting up, and I was trying to finish everything before that happened, but . . . oh well. At least it was something relatively easy to fix, anyway.
The illusion is complete. It is reality, the reality is illusion, and the ambiguity is the only truth. But is the truth, as Hitchcock observes, in the box? No, there isn't room; the ambiguity has put on weight. --Gavin Milarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Will be malfunctioning within a day.So the MKV is fine and does not need to have any audio fixes (aside from the sync that was resolved), and this only effects the AVCHD?
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Keeper of the Taco SandwichI don't know if it's related, but the 5.1 sound on my DVD-5 would occasionally make a weird static blurp (always in the same places; it did it twice during the opening crawl)... so I muxed in the mix I had from Dark Jedi's v3 and that seemed to work fine. But at the same time my DVD player has been acting strange lately (all my Samsung products seem to be turning against me) so I'm not sure if it's some compatibility issue or my player being an ass, or if it was actually in the mix. But since it's being re-encoded anyway I'll try it again with the new file and see what happens.

Harmy, I watched the AVCHD from start to finish last night. The encode quality is incredible. Really impressive that you've squeezed so much detail into 1/2 the file size. At first I thought I'd wait until the blu-ray to burn copies for friends, but now I think the AVCHD will more than suffice.
