This is a non-faded Technicolor 35mm pint.From 1977,there was not many made for a home release.

.

...That's an IB Tech print, not 35mm. The one Harmy timed it to is in better condition and doesn't have the vagaries of how the digital camera processed the image or whether the Senator used the right bulb

 sorry I didn't know :(

No, you were right, the IB technicolor star wars prints were regular 35 mm sized prints.

Yeah, I understood that they were the same size. But I meant to object to the idea that the Tech prints = the 35mm Eastman prints that Harmy referred to a few posts above his, which is why pat man posted the pictures from the Senator to begin with.

 That is basically way.

funny thing i've been thinking about this whole time is I thought I heard that The GodFather Part II was the last movie to use technicolor?  is that incorrect?  or was that something else?

That was the last done by Technicolor in the US. The one for SW were all done at Technicolor London IIRC.

May just have to get a BD burner for this, though logistically this may be hard (no more SATA ports, and don't wanna get rid of my HD-DVD/BD combo drive). could get another controller but I suspect that'll drive me nuts, and not enough money atm to build a new desktop altogether - esp with NY Comic Con coming up

How about THIS? I've converted the MKV to a Blu-ray via tsMuxeR without too much hassle and even got myself some fancy icons for my PS3's XMB using THIS little trick.

Laser: sadiq, thanks for the tips! (Especially that cool PS3 tip, heh.) Has the added bonus of being portable so I could use it with my laptop (in addition to not having to eat up a SATA port). I've had good experiences with LG burners, too (my HD/Blu combo is one of them).

Hey dudes!

I'm not gonna lie, but I haven't been following the project much since the last Screened.com article. I skimmed through the first and last pages of the thread, but couldn't find the information I'm looking, so I guessed I would just bother everybody and ask it. :D

Are the other two movies also getting a "remastered" version, or was that mostly something for the first movie?

Thanks again for creating these, they're the definitive versions as far as I know.

bilditup1, the Raspberry Pi is supposed to handle 1080p. Maybe Harmy's mkv has too much bitrate...

Thanks guys :-)

At the current speed, the rendering of the AVCHD should be done tomorrow morning and since I'm back at school (I just finished my undergraduate program and am continuing to postgrad) the upload should be superfast as well, so if everything goes well, the AVCHD should be available on uloz.to sometime tomorrow. I guess it will get reuploaded to other places soon after.

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED is now officially released!!!

Again, sorry to just come in and start bothering people, but I quickly glanced over the first post and didn't find this information.

The Brazillian Dub included in the release is the original Dub made by a studio called "Herbert Richards" for TV broadcast.

There's a second Dub made for the DVD release (I don't really know what's the studio that made that dub though) that has both pros and cons when compared to the original dub, but that's not the point of this message.

The original dub made for TV is much harder to come by, so it's amazing thats the one that comes with the release. I just think it would be cool if it were stated somewhere on the first post.

And, if somebody needs the audio from the second dub, I can dig out my DVDs and rip it, if necessary. :D

Again, thanks for the amazing work.

Yeah, I know, I've been using it for several months without issue and think I said the bitrate was causing buffering problems, not the resolution.

Well, the bitrate of the MKV is still way lower than commercial Blu-Ray.

Wait... are you Brazilian too?! And yes, this is the original dubbing made in the 80's. Restored for this release.

By the way, sorry but the correct spelling is "Herbert Richers".

While I don't need the AVCHD, I offer my light-speed connection to help get it out there when it's ready, Harmy.  I will then post to TPB, 1337x, and MS if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans.  That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

PS.: If you really are Brazilian I should be typing this in Portuguese, sorry.

Yeap, I'm Brazilian too.. You really shouldn't be typing in Portuguese because this is not a Portuguese board or Portuguese section, so.... :D

About the name, yeah, I always type it wrong. On the back of my mind, I always know it's "Richers", but I always mistype it.

Great work, whoever made it, on that 80's audio dub restoration. Pretty amazing.

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED is now officially released!!!

Well, I restored it and some friend of mine (nickname: Ronaldo) gave me the audio (digitalized). And, about the Portuguese typing you're right. Duh! Anyway, welcome to the forum and I'm sure you enjoy the pt-br subtitles too. Oh, do you know "Dublanet" or "Não À Redublagem"? I started my Herbert Richers restoration project on these forums, 2009.

Of course; but it's still higher than the usual Matroska files that I stream. But who knows; maybe I just have to defrag my HDD and get shit off of it...?

It's a shame LG dropped HD-DVD read capability from their recent BD writers as my unit was only $85 and it otherwise would have been a good replacement for your combo drive.  Wouldn't have been difficult to include it as a bonus or cost them money.

I still have my original LG BD writer that has HD-DVD read capability, but that was like $400.

You could get an enclosure for a 5" drive and connect it via usb externally, if you don't have external eSATA ports available (or even a usb->SATA converter and SATA PSU for connecting a bare drive externally when necessary).

Amazing work on this Harmy.

I did a little editing and replaced the Obi-Wan scene and one very dark interior Falcon shot with the BD version, but your work on this is truly amazing and I can finally watch a version of Star Wars that feels like it did in 77!

Thanks so much :)
