Harmy, I think it's a brilliant idea to create such a featurette and put it on youtube :-)
For those of you who want the DVD5, the guy who did the encode is currently uploading it to usenet it seems.
Is he now? I hope he knows I can't download it from there. Chewtobacca?
The posting "DeEdv2.0_NTSC_DVD5.par2" by a guy called SmokingWookie is in progress, yes.
@Rox64: I'd recommend not to mux the two parts that way.

Somebody needs to upload this to youtube for the general public. If you cite it as "fair use" it will take at least a couple weeks for fox to email them and for them to take it down.
Youtube uses a system called 'Content ID', when the first note of John Williams soundtrack plays this will cause the upload to be flagged. There is no 'Fair Use' citing on youtube. When your video is blocked you can counter the block.

That is correct, but when you counter the block you check "Fair Use" and then there are no problems until Fox emails youtube and it comes down weeks later.
I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't. Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.

I totally gave up on YouTube (some of you may have noticed I deleted all my SW videos).
What I was however planning to do was make a little documentary for the BD, explaining what the DeEd is and maybe upload that to YouTube when it's done. It would explain the most important parts of the OOT issue and how the general public is being deceived and misled into either not even knowing there was any earlier version of it or at least thinking the original versions had cardboard cut out spaceships and stuff and how the DeEd can be used to educate people about this issue ;-) Covering my ass a little there but at the same time I believe that it is true.
Yes I've notice you deleted your videos, cool that you are making a Video about DeEd and OOT.Please do posted on YouTube.

Well it wouldn't stream without stutter on my PS3, so I downsized it and burned it. Good enough to hold me over until I can get a blu ray burner. Truly a masterpiece!

Just wanted to drop in and say what an amazing job you did Harmy!
Is anyone working on a comparison between the 2006 bonus disc DVD, blu-ray, DeEd 1.0 and 2.0?

Curse you all, you should have caught me!Harmy, I did not mean to say that the colors looked similar to the Blu-Ray, or to imply that version 2.0 was a partial reversal of color work done for 1.0.
I just meant to express surprise that the "true" colors of the film do, in some ways, look closer to the Blu-Ray than the GOUT. (The Death Star isn't just grey; it's got some blues in it too, for example.)
Of course your Despecialized project looks a hundred times better color-wise than the Blu-Ray. It's just... I've never seen Star Wars look quite this way. But that's a good thing.

To whoever is posting this to Usenet, why did you stop posting in a.b.starwars at file 117, then continue the post in a.b.hdtv?
Also as a FYI - file #106 didn't post. (I plan on just downloading a par file & rebuilding it, but others might not know what or how to do that.)

What are you talking about?? If the link below is any indication everything you stated above is wrong.
The changes that George Lucas has made over the years to Star Wars is the equivalent of someone keying your car. On an intellectual level, you know that the car still works, and its only marred a fraction of a percent of the paintjob. On an emotional level, every time you see it, it's all you can focus on, and it makes you want to rip someone's face off.

Interesting, that's not the results I get w/ the Easynews.
I'm not criticizing or anything, it was just odd to me that it was being split up.

Nzbindex.nl and binsearch both report that everything is complete up to part128 on a.b.starwars and a.b.hdtv. And that's exactly what's shown in my upload program as well. Furthermore, part106 downloads just fine and is fully complete.
Probably the site you're grabbing the nzb from has not updated its index for a.b.starwars lately where as for a.b.hdtv it has.

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal.Does anyone know how Chewtobacca is converting this to DVD5? It might be faster for me to convert it myself than to download it. I just tried AVS2DVD and HCENC kept crashing.

Yeah, it could very well be Easynews' Global Search just is screwing up my search results or it just isn't completely updated yet.
Their results don't even show files 1-117 in a.b.hdtv, just a.b.starwars - then it picks up from 118 to 128 currently only in a.b.hdtv.

The easiest way would be to use ConvertXtoDVD. Depending on processing speed, you can have a DVD5 ready to play in under an hour.
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Unless things have changed you definitely don't want to use Convertxtodvd. It doesn't use a good encoder like HcEnc. AvstoDvd is superior.
That said, from everything I've read on the web the best way to go is to use MultiAvchd to convert HD files to SD DVD. It's worked for me and it's meant for such conversions.

The link you have published shows complete files up to part133.rar, part134.rar is incomplete (and only uploaded 21 minutes ago) and there are no par2 repair files.
I guess it is possible the remaining files are still uploading, but right now via binsearch.info and newzbin indexers, there are not enough complete files to download the mkv via usenet.
Would it be safe to start downloading these usenet files in anticipation of fully complete files being available in due course? With all the rapid takedown notices being issued by the MPAA, I'm a little concerned the files could disappear and I be left with an incomplete orphan. In these circumstances, it makes sense to publish exactly the same files on usenet and filesharing sites which are interchangeable, so that a complete set can still be obtained if one site loses some or all of them.
I'm really looking forward to watching the mkv: thanks Harmy and happy birthday.

I had a question, forgive me if it's stupid or has been already addressed...
I just downloaded the new version of Star Wars, and it looks amazing...I really wanna burn a blu ray of this...but I dont know how to work with MKV files. Do I have to convert the MKV, and if I do, #1 how do i do it properly and #2 will I lose any of the audio options?
Forgive my noobness...

Lost JediWell I guess the best way to go would be to convert the mkv to a Blu ray structure. Or if you're sure your BD player is compatible with mkvs, just burn it on a blank BD, but you'll need a BD burner anyway.

ok, finally got it from myspleen. thanks to the

========================================
first of all, great job!
i'm very impressed with all the work you've put into it,
even from the last set of workprints, there's a lot of
details and subtle changes.
to anyone waiting on getting this, hurry up! get it now.
yes, the BD and other versions will come later, but if
you can, just get this one and you won't be dissapointed.
the colors look great! (did you somehow sneak our copy
from us? haha just kidding) .. i have to say the color
matching is very faithful to our lpp print also in many
places. we'll have to do a comparison at some point.
the clarity of course is amazing. ours might be 1080p,
but it still won't match the crispness of this transfer based
on the bluray.
the sound is exceptional from the few english ones i've
heard. with tons of choices from the mixes, and the
subtitles.
it's going to be hard for any other release to match
this! (even ours, although it's really in a different
category)..
you've done an excellent job, and deserve a huge congratulations.
along with everyone that has worked with you and supported you
and the rest of your team.
take a nice break, and get ready for 3.0 when ours comes out!
haha just kidding? (maybe?)
looking forward to reading other peoples comments and
reviews. you have brought the whole star wars movement
much closer to the originals than ever before.
thanks from our whole team, including cinch and mr brown.

Yes, the upload is still in progress, but the rar archive should be finished in about an hour with the par2 set taking about 5 hours more. You can download all complete files now and the rest of them later, that's really unproblematic.
Don't worry about takedown notices on usenet. They happen, yes, but are extremely rare. Chances are at least 99.9% the files will be available until the retention of your provider is met.
The rar files on usenet and filesharing sites are 100% the same, except that I renamed them. The par2 set however is different on usenet.
