Han D. SoloI don't know what MD5 is but the uploader for kickass and bay told me he had to remove some files from the subtitle folder because with them the torrent didn't work. Those files are basically inconsequential to the release.

That's weird. Maybe the uploaders can check if their files are ok using a tool called Multipar.

So I didn't touch the Threepio folders in anyway. Which extraneous files are you referring to?
The following files are present in the Threepio folder in the MySpleen torrent, but not in the TPB torrent: _README.html, prep_subs-match.pl, preb_subs-rtl.pl, prep_subs.pl, and the folder "vsfilter.dll", containing centerleft_mod_src.7z and VSFilter.dll. Whether they're supposed to be included or not, I don't know, but it's an anomaly between the two torrents.
OK. Those were part of the original download so I left them in. It's a shame that the tpb downloaders won't have the readme though; it's dead-useful.
If I'm uploading a corrupted file then someone please tell me how I should figure that out. I watched the film without any issue whatsoever (wrote an email to the uploader group earlier) but that is no guarantee.

Jedi of the Mosaic FaithIn other news: my upload speed is now maxed out at 3.0MB/s which almost never happens :) I usually limit it to 2.2 so that there's some bandwidth left for other stuff, but I think the occasion calls for it, don't you? :)

MD5 and SHA are used to check the integrity of a file. If two files has the same MD5 or SHA sum, then they are the same file byte per byte. If they doesn't match, they are not the same exact file.
They are useful for security and cryptoanalysis, and many software developers like Microsoft and Linux distros publish the MD5 and SHA sums of their releases.

Jedi of the Mosaic FaithI am currently downloading the PAR2 files to double-check my upload but I've left the current torrent up just in case. I'm stepping out and it'll take an hour-an hour and half to download, just in case anybody is planning on holding off until I do so.
EDIT: I was just told by boongee that 'If you were able to extract the final product, your rars are fine.' So it seems like this is pointless. So don't hold off! Come one, come all!

Downloading now off of TPB. Thanks for all the time and work you put into this Harmy I've been following this thread since almost the beginning in anticipation. I've been a huge fan of the first trilogy you Despecialized can't wait to see this one.

Ok, here's how to verify the integrity of the rar archive and repair it if necessary.
First of all, download every part of the DeedV2.0 rar archive and at least DeEd.MKV.par2.part01.rar. Extract Deed2.par2 from said rar file to the same folder.
Get Multipar from http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA021385/ and install it. Once it's finished right click on Deed2.par2, select "Open with..." and choose Multipar. It needs a few minutes for the process the finish, but in the end the program window should look like this:

If instead it says that some blocks are lost, you need to download further parts of the DeEd.MKV.par2 rar archive. You do not need to get all par2 files, it's sufficient to just download the same number of slices as those damaged. When looking at the file names in the above screenshot, f.e. +003 means that said par2 file contains three additional slices.
As a last step extract the par2 files, repeat the above steps and once checking is complete, simply click on "Repair" and wait for it to finish.

The one from MySpleen also seems to have some extraneous files in the Project Threepio folder.
I can confirm this. That is why I cleaned things up for 1337x and TPB. I kept getting bencode errors at MS, so I'm glad someone was successful. Those extraneous files account for the "difference" between the torrents. Also, the html readme file had to be removed because they are not allowed with video files.
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

I am ready for the trials! Why wasn't the torrent just upped in its original format, ie rar parts and pars?
The TPB torrent is useless, how can you repair with any rar program when there are no rars?

It would of helpful if you uploaded the release as is, not your extraction of the release. Your MKV is toast.
Has anybody started a torrent of the release the way it was released in the first place as a rar archive with pars?

Torrents already repair on their own, without any need for RAR or PAR files.
Not true. If you upload a corrupt file you will download a corrupted file.

Minor nitpick: Hash collisions are unlikely, but can occur, as non-"perfect" hashing algorithms are surjective functions. That is, it's rare, but you can have two files hash to the same value. This is less likely with MD5 and the SHA family than, e.g., CRC-32.

Yeah, but those collisions are even more rare with better algorithms like SHA256 or 512. MD5 has some security flaws that were discovered some years ago, but it should be fine for projects like Harmy's restoration.
EDIT: What's happening with my avatar?
EDIT2: Nevermind, it's fixed now.
