aka PancakesSo, he wants to see, what, a picture of "Despecialized" being projected on a screen? Or video of it being projected on a screen?
Why?

"You don't need to see his identification"This would indeed be wonderful to see in a theater-like setting, like it was in 1977, with Dolby Surround Sound and the like.

I'd have to start from scratch if I was to do it at 1080p.

Someone mentioned something about watching the 720p clips released by negative1 on a 1080p projector. Perhaps this guy got the two projects mixed up.

The crappy camera phone and youtube compression doesn't really convey it too well but it looks great. Plenty of detail.

Keeper of the Taco Sandwich720 is just great to me. Considering the sources used for some of the despecialized portions, 1080 might be too high and accentuate the seams. Just guessing, I suppose we'd have to see it to be sure. But for anything higher than 720 I'd say we need higher quality source material.

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal.I don't think higher quality source material is a problem anymore for SW and ESB. Damn Vader eyebrows in ROTJ may continue to be a sticky problem though. Grr, that one really gets me.

Looks great! I asked for this because I saw Spider-Man 2 BD projected on Epson 1080p and was awesome, like a real theater!

bad news?
"In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be "replaced" by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten." - George Lucas
"I am very concerned about our national heritage, and I am very concerned that the films that I watched when I was young and the films that I watched throughout my life are preserved, so that my children can see them." - George Lucas

Han D. SoloNot really, just that here's the latest advancement in upscaling the GOUT (top) compared to the latest advancement of the "higher quality source material" CatBus was probably referring to - already cleaned up quite a bit (bottom):
So I'm just saying that higher quality source for SW and ESB is still a problem at this point.

That's the exact same projector I'm using. Its a great projector but I've had mine for over 4 years now. Definitely time for an upgrade. Those photos are much more representative of the viewing experience than my horrid video.
And, for the record, I'm very happy with Harmy's project being 'only' 720p. The possible slight loss in detail is greatly compensated by the more forgiving compression.

I've already started a thread to discuss how useful dedicated hardware upscalers might be as another tool we could use.
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/GOUT-V3-and-DVDO-ISCAN-upscaler-processor/topic/14018/
Someone has said that they'll post some comparison clips. So if you have any thoughts/suggestions then feel free to head over to the thread.
it seems that George Lucas just can’t help fiddling with his movies. Who knows why he continues to do this? Perhaps he just didn’t have the technology to realise his original vision back in 1999…

I Dl'd what I thought was Harmy's from what looked like a Polish file hosting site. Watching with my kids and was very surprised when Ben took Luke to view Mos Eisly from afar, Ben had some very CHOICE words to describe Mos that I wasn't too happy to have slinging past my 4 yr old. Anyone know which version that is and if I can expect more surprises like that?

If you were high and watching i you just might fall out of your chair at Ben throwing down some nice modern street language.

I think he was talking about WP 1, which had some interesting language for Ben... :)
If the language bothers you, just wait for the official release.

Yeah, I know, which is exactly how I got it (the whole shot not just that picture), so at this point I'm sticking with upscaled GOUT for that shot.
