Hey I just heard about this despecialized edition recently and came here to see about getting my hands on it. I've downloaded v1.0 of all three films and from what I've seen so far, these look effing amazing. I do have a couple of questions, though. I haven't read the whole 153-page thread, just the first few pages and the last few, so forgive me if this has already been covered:
1: Is there a download mirror for the cover art somewhere? The megaupload link from the first post is not working (when I click the link, I get an image that displays the standard FBI Anti-Piracy seal and a notice that says the domain name associated with Megaupload.com has been seized in accordance with a US disctrict court order.) Or, like davextreme asked, maybe an iTunes-ready cover art?
2: What about a list of chapter titles? The chapters in these don't match up with the chapters in my 2004 DVD box set discs. I want to put these in iTunes and, since the chapter markers are there, I might as well use them. But it'd be nice if they were called something other than "Chapter 1," "Chapter 2," etc. Of course I could just make up titles myself, but if there's already a (even semi-) definitive list out there I'd prefer to use that.

I program robots to blow me!Harmy is in the process of redoing all of them, V2.0's (incorporating higher quality sources, like the retail BD releases). SW is very close to completion... with a BD release coming shortly afterwards.
He's redoing the cover art too, so you're probably better off waiting.

Yes, I'm done with what I have so far but I didn't even get a full reel this time, so I'm waiting for the rest.
If you don't mind me asking, how much of the film is included on reel 2? I ask because it sounds from some of your other posts like you might be approaching the 43 minute mark .... (by the way, my fingers are crossed that you are, as I - along with countless others I am sure - simply cannot wait until you release your next work print).

So I guess I'll probably just use the old theatrical posters for my cover art (can't get much more "original" than that, eh?) but about those chapter titles...? Does someone have a list, or do these match up with some other release of the films, or what? Am I just gonna have to make up my own titles?</p><br /><br />Edit: Why don't my quotes work?</p>

Absolutely amazed by the amount of effort put forth here. I downloaded the first run restorations and that is all I watch now. The blu rays sit on my shelf collecting dust.
Very very excited for the 2.0!
Many many thanks Harmy for all of your hard work and dedication.

I found out about this a few months ago and finally decided to make an account and post here. I'm amazed at all the work you are putting into this, Harmy. It's crazy and really cool.
When I first watched the OT I watched it one VHS that I borrowed from the library, so I'm not sure how close those were to the originals. The only ones I own are DVDs that I bought sometime around...2007 I guess. I have no idea what to call them, but they say "Limited Edition", if that means anything. I've barely watched the "original theatrical" versions on them because they have black bars added and are fullscreen (at the time, my parents did not have any widescreen TVs). So I am very interested to see how DEV2 looks. I haven't downloaded any of the clips posted due to my internet. I'm just going to wait until DEV2 is released.
So yeah, fantastic job on this! I'm excited for the release. Thanks for all your hard work, Harmy.

Harmy,
I just finished watching the work print and while I haven't had a chance to do a detailed comparison at the GOUT, I did notice one issue that popped up towards the end....Vader's top button.
While they are the proper color for most of the council meeting, at 36:58 the top button switches back to blue. I checked the GOUT and it should be green in that shot. Strangely enough, two shots later, when the button becomes visible again (about 37:02), the color is blue in the GOUT.
In truth, I could care less about this minor issue, as the work print is simply marvelous. I only point it out because I understand that you wanted to be made aware of inconsistencies compared to the GOUT.

I'm sorry if it seems like I'm snapping here, but I really wish more people would get that the GOUT is not an ideal reference when it comes to the colours.
Harmy is attempting to recreate the theatrical version of Star Wars here. The colour timing of the original theatrical release was very different to what we have since seen on home video. Look through the thread and you'll see that same thing written over and over. The original theatrical colour timing was also notoriously inconsistent, so you will likely see colour errors in this version that are completely intentional on Harmy's part.
You cannot compare Harmy's colours with the GOUT, cause the latter is a desaturated mess which, colour-wise, has nothing to do with the way the film appeared originally.

I recognize that the color is inconsistent in the GOUT. I'm not commenting on skin tones, or the general tint of an entire scene. I'm pointing out a discrete inconsistency that is specific to a very small area of one scene.
I also know that the blue buttons on Vader's chest piece have been a point raised in this thread before and I believe that Harmy has already changed those buttons back to green in a number of shots. It's possible that the GOUT got Vader's button wrong. It's also possible (maybe even probable given that the buttons have been changed to green in a number of other scenes) that this was a change that Harmy missed.
As I recall, in the last work print, Harmy missed the color switch to the landing pod hatch. It's a good thing that everyone didn't adhere to FO's message, otherwise that omission would have remained in the final product.
If I'm wrong and I wasted Harmy's time, I apologize. Harmy, I am incredibly grateful for everything you've done and for your willingness to share it with us all. Thank you, again.

Han D. SoloOh, no, it's good that you pointed it out (though I probably won't be doing anything about it in this case). As to that red sky shot, that is very much intentional.
