Happy birthday! Only 34 years old but already undergone so many cosmetic surgeries she is barely recognizable anymore...

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Well, now that you've reminded me that  34 years ago I was 15 years old and sitting in the theater watching Star Wars, I'm going to pour myself a drink.

8:30 in the morning isn't too early is it?

Here's to Star Wars! :D

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

1977 I was a seven year old eating an amazing space-aged choc-ice.

2011 I am a forty year old sporting a beard long enough to sweep crumbs off my tummy.

I can't believe it took me 34 years to realize that Leia was racist against the Wookies

You mean 31 years.  No one could have known that until ESB, which of course is the best of the SW movies...or is it?  I can't remember if we decided.

Are you sure star wars is that old the only version in existence was made in 2004, must be less than a decade old right, lol.

1977-1983 versions have pulled from circulation since the nineties, and all but a handful of copies have been destroyed by the grinch who stole star wars.

Sure the library of congress has non restored copies, but since no one can watch them its kind of stupid.  Some one told me see star wars is preserved you just cannot watch it.

In neither star wars or empire's 30th anniversary were restored theatrical prints in theaters.

To me it is more of a funeral dirge than a celebration, 14 years of celebrating the destruction of a classic  is nothing to celebrate.

If they did split it up into 2 concerts i would go to see the original trilogy one and skip the prequels, though off hand to be honest i liked duel of the fates, across the stars and battle of the heroes.

Still the exclusion of prequel music would make room for more oot pieces.

Don't think any prequel fans would show up though, if they screened footage of not the special edition but the oot focused on luke's story not darth vader, and left out the 6 film saga revised new 90's Lucas vision called his original vision.

I am of course talking about star wars in concert, you are probably talking about the night of film music at the pops thing Williams has been doing for a while.

A belated Happy Birthday Star Wars! It was also my son's 17th birthday yesterday -  he was exactly half as old as Star Wars for a day.
