RE: Happy 35th Star Wars!!!

This would have been a great time for 5-25-77 to have come out.

I feel like I'm going to be a senior citizen before we ever get to see this.

Where were you in '77?

I gave it no thought what so ever.

Coincidentally, however, I did watch 2001: A Space Odyssey on the 25th.   Somewhat fitting, considering how some of the visuals for Star Wars were lifted from 2001.

Sorry.  :-)

Maybe I'll watch Star Wars tomorrow as a sort of Memorial to 1977.  After all, it has been six years since I last watched it.  Dare I?

My Heather Langenkamp avatar has decided to go on an extended vacation and may not be back for sometime. Not to worry, though, for she will be back - eventually.

I'll join the chorus of cynicism that Star Wars isn't around for it's own anniversary. Sigh.

No matter. Think back to 1977. You’re in the theater,

Then, the infamous credit scroll — rows of yellow letters drifting away into space. The words “Episode IV” appear. What on earth could that mean?

well, i only saw it in the theaters twice.

once in 77 and then again in 79 i think

before empire came out.. so seeing the

episode number made sense then..

It means that you've attended a screening in 1981 instead of 1977.

-1, the title Episode IV - A New Hope did appear on the published script of the film in '79, film prints with the redone opening did first show up on the '81 re-release.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

yeah,

i guess i never did see the episode 4 in the crawl then.

until it got put into the special editions...

the 79 re-release was a special showing with a preview

of empire.. but it didn't have it..
