Better a bad bomb than a bombadThis summer vacation, I might partake to transform episodes of HBOs awesome "Rome" into a 2hr movie roughly following the plot of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar"
This roughly covers episodes 9-18, meaning near nine hours of programing. But right off the bat I'll be cutting almost all of the soldier character's storylines, as well as the intrigue between the women (except where absolutly necessary), so that should cut it to a manageable length.
The main problem I see is there's no really good ending scene, but the play ends rather abruptly as well, so maybe that's for the best.

Magister Pontifex MaximusIt would make more sense to edit it along the lines of the Liz Taylor Cleopatra film.
You could have an intermission at the death of Caesar and then do a second half ending with the defeat of Anthony and Cleo and the formation of the Imperial family.

Perhaps. But I hate that movie. :-P

Better a bad bomb than a bombadUPDATE:
No actual editing done yet, but went through the whole series, taking notes, and I'm even more convinced that the basic story can be conveyed in about two hours.
There'll be some skipping about, and little points, like that Lepidus shows up with no introduction, are OK with me since he shows up with no introduction in the play.
