HALL OF FAME
AT ONE TIME THERE HAD BEEN TALK ABOUT MAKING A HALL OF FAME FOR THE ALL-TIME TOP POSTERS. NO THAT THE POST COUNT IS GONE IS THERE ANY CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING?

Is there any chance of you stopping the ALL CAPS typing?

Hmm, with post counts gone are we stuck with our current status? Destined to always be ready for the trials?

Oops, guess it's been brought up.

Only admins have that capability right now. I'll probably open it up to everybody.

Which field does that? I don't appear to have title as a field.

I kind of liked the post counts and titles. But eh, this'll work.

I dropped post count into user profiles. The page still isn't formatted, but at least it's there. Unless people really scream for it, I'm not going to place it within posts.

Get at least half the membership here saying that, and you've got a deal.

I kinda liked having certain titles that you could only get with post counts.

I know this is popular with some people. Unfortunately, it encourages garbage topics like "Rankings" in the off topic section that exist solely for jacking up post count.

As AWK proved, post count is entirely irrelevant.

I know there are some good arguments against showing post counts in the posts, but I kind of liked it.

I too vote to have them back. I am glad to see our counts are retained within our profiles at least.

I also kind of liked having the ranks achieved by post count.

I VOTE NO AS WELL. THE MEMBERS HERE JUST TAKE THE POST COUNT TOO SERIOUSLY. IT'S BETTER THIS WAY.

THE IRONIC THING IS THAT I JUST ENABLED POST COUNTS ON MY SITE. I DID IT TO HELP GENERATE TRAFFIC. AS SOON AS THINGS PICK UP ON MY FORUM OR IF PROBLEMS ARISE DUE TO POST COUNTS THEN I'LL TURN THEM OFF AGAIN.

I say forget post counts (leave them in the user profile), and allow all members to choose their own user title.

SO, DISREGARD EVERYTHING FROM THE OLD FORUM? PRETEND THAT THE OLD FORUM NEVER EXISTED? IF YOUR GOING TO DO THAT THEN YOU CAN PRETEND THAT I DON'T TYPE WITH THE CAPS LOCK ON.

RE: HALL OF FAME
Let me get this straight. By abandoning post count and user rankings--two of the most useless gauges of user contribution and value ever introduced to forum communities--we're disregarding "everything from the old forum" and pretending "that the old forum never existed?"

That doesn't say much for the quality of the actual posts, does it?

No forum I visit outside this one that's worth anything uses post count or user rankings. It's all custom titles and post counts in the user profile.

Like I said, get a majority vote of the ~4700 members here and I'll reinstate post counts and user/useless rankings.

LOL, I seem to remember more said about post quantity and ranks from you than anyone else.

I have never seen the post count as a means of competition, or a means of member value. And I have not heard anyone talking about rank so much for a long time other than an occasional conversation by old Jedi Spirits or people who are near becoming Spirits. in other words, none of the newer members even really care.

Do titles still change with amounts of posts? Or am I stuck ready for the trials?
