Anakin hates sand (Dune hates the PT).

For the last few weeks I've been flying through the Wire, so all the characters and plots and such are constantly swirling around my mind. Tonight (right now actually), however, I'm watching Hal's EpI workprint, and a guard says "the boy's here to see Padme," and I do a double take. That's Jimmy McNulty's voice! I looked it up, sure enough, Dominic West was an extra in TPM! That's so wizard!

Only fans of the Wire will get this, but the only thing I can think when I hear see him there, and hear him say that line, is Man, Rawls assigned him to be a guard? What the heck did Jimmy do this time?

He is in a TPM Blu-Ray deleted scene too. Series 4 of the The Wire is the best TV has or sadly probably ever will get. Nice to see the cast have gone all SF&F, starring in... Star Wars, Thor, Prometheus, John Carter, Pacific Rim, Dredd and the new Robocop.

Also Andre Royo, Method Man and Tristan Wilds all worked for Lucas on 'Red Tails'. Plus just seen that Idris is gonna play Nelson Mandela later in the year. Oscars beckon for Mr Elba I fancy.

Ooh, can't wait I'm on season 3.

Wikipedia tells me Michael B. Jordan is in Red Tails too. Might have to actually watch that.

Also, Elba has to be one of my most favorite actors working today so not only will I be seeking out "Mandela" (and rooting for him come Oscar time), but I will also be rooting for him as an actor in Episode VII (just to put this back on topic).

Hell, the Wire's got such a great cast I'd be overjoyed if any of them get into the ST.

^ Great stuff. Anybody know if any other recordings exist because the audience laughter drowns most of it out in that clip.

One of the tradegedies of modern film in the last few decades is the erradication of the art of voice acting. Studios just get whatever Hollywood stars are popular now to voice everything. Who sadly more often than not just phone it in and pickup a huge check.

It's hardly been eradicated. The voice acting industry is alive and well in both television and video games. Though I do lament the film industry's neglect of so much talent.

I know animated films have used stars in the past, but it tended to be because the voice was right. You're always gonna have exceptions to the rule.

e.g. Disney's superb 1973 'Robin Hood'. Peter Ustinov is amazing as Prince John but that was an exception. They picked Peter for the voice not so they could stick his name on a poster.

yet Disney's 1991 'Beauty and the Beast' had almost no stars and it blew up at the box office.

Don't know who on here has seen 'Watership Down' but the voice acting in that was very good.

I remember when TPM came out I tried to think of James Earl Jones repeating Jake Lloyd's lines from the movie. There would absolutely be a disconnect between the two.

Sounding like a broken record since May 2006.

^Well, obviously. One's a naive, optimistic kid years away from puberty, while the other's a mass murdering old man who lost most of his body mass to molten lava and had to be encased in life-supporting armour in order to survive. I'm sure adult Hitler and nine-year-old Hitler were pretty different from one another, too.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

I was re-listening to an old episode of RHLSTP from last year when Peter Serafinowicz is talking about his experience working on TPM. Very funny stuff, if you haven't yet listened check it out (Free of charge)...

RHLSTP Episode 12: Peter Serafinowic

About 25 or so minutes of Star Wars chat from around 12.00 to 38.00. Lots of insider info amongst the laughs.

"Fans of Star Wars will be creaming out of their arm pits when they hear his tales of working with George Lucas and having to pay to go to the premiere. Astonishing stuff. Rich provides an alternate reading of Darth Maul for the next director's cut"

Not many downloads of the Star Wars posters and wallpapers I posted here, so just spamming this thread in case there are any takers before the links start to expire.

It's in The Sun so it's possibly not genuine but I've seen clouds take the shape of the British Isles before and more so than in that picture.

Clouds take all manner of shapes and the human brain is wired to notice patterns even when they aren't intended.
