No, it was always blue. The only official release where it isn't blue is the BD.

Interesting. The markings have some similarities to the text on the TIE Fighter Pilot helmets.

The English in the rest of Star Wars is exactly why I find the markings on the capsule so interesting, because it makes me wonder if they were initially going to use those markings as the alphabet and then changed it so it would be readable for viewers, and then changed it again for Jedi; or if the markings are even supposed to be "letters".

I have been working on "decoding" the Holiday Special alphabet lately. With the exception of the computer screen, I'm convinced they all say something.

I think the first image says "The XXXXX'X Wokee!" Keep in mind the cartoon was originally called "The Faithful Wookiee".

And oh wow, decoding the Holiday Special alphabets. Amazing.

There's quite a few alphabets aside from Aurebesh for Star Wars, Aurebesh is just the "English" of Star Wars.

There's at least the Nabooian alphabet and the Mandalorian alphabet that are also pretty well completed. There are likely some others in some of the Coruscant scenes I'm sure.

The escape pod seems to indicate "A ILM 15A". The most prominent symbol seems to just be a simple "A" to me. The text on the side seems to have the lambda symbol from the greek alphabet and a symbol that could be a representative of an "i" on it's right. Process of elimination would dictate that the symbol on the left most side is meant to represent "m". Obviously "ILM" Industrial Light and Magic. When you read it from right to left. Underneath seems to be just the numbers 1 and 5 so "15" and an Aleph from the Hebrew Alphabet hence "15A". So simple deduction means it could just say "A ILM 15A".

Though the Aleph contains a numerical value on it's own. So you could posit that the Escape pod says "A ILM 151". That's stretching things though as it's a bit redundant to have numbers listed with two entirely different designations. A bit like saying 1five12. Of course I'm stretching this analysis really far just bringing it up in the first place.

Of course I could really thin this stretch even farther by bringing up the fact that the Aleph is kind of like the "father" of the Aleph-Bet (The Hebrew Alphabet) and that the 5 represents the episode when the Vader Father secret gets revealed and the fact that Aleph is a silent letter means that the 1 represents that it's going to be a secret until 5. Also how it instantly went from 1 to 5 in the Star Wars saga. Hence 15Aleph.

Plus I could even point out how the letters to spell Aleph in Hebrew add up. Aleph = 1, Lamed = 30, and Pey = 80 are equal to 111. Hence it's only fitting that I twister111 am the one to figure this out.

Now take a look at this random image I found on the internets!!!!

There is also a similar font used in Droids, you guys should check those out, too. It's at least in the first episode on the monitor and then in the last Fromm episode they were hiding in a bar(?), at least that what the sign could have said.

This always bugged the hell out of me. Aurebesh I mean. If they can speak english then they can damn well write english.

I'm actually kind of impressed with something about the Holiday Special! While other people were pretending the Imperials would like the music of Starship, someone else was thinking "The Wookiees wouldn't be watching something that had English text, we've got to come up with another language!"

But yeah, the animated segment is full of awesome little background details:

Once the Rebels evaculated Yavin they had to go somewhere. I love this hidden asteroid base and wish the EU had picked it up.

It's a pretty massive base but apparently they wanted to use the space as efficiently as possible. Check out that meeting room buried in the side of that wall. Fun use of artificial gravity.

I love little details like how his headset plugs into the headrest.

You get glimpses of other parts of the Falcon.

I love how massive this city is on this backwater planet.

The scope of it is pretty awesome.

Check out that shop owner and the payphone sign attached to the shop sign.

Grimy walls.

Disgusting public payphone complete with phone books, scribbles and covered in who knows what.

A little weird article. There are much more women in the films, you don't need to dig the cutting floor. Beru, Tonnika sisters, Hoth rebels (at least three), Cloud City personnel, Oola... Sure there could and probably should be more but still. I agree with the comment: "I'll go with "who cares?" for a thousand, Alex."
