Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick. Not Star Wars related but didn't know where it should go:
George Lucas' battle to bring WWII tale Red Tails to the screen is highlighted in this New York Daily News. Despite his lofty standing in the echelons of cinema, Lucas still had a battle on his hands bringing the story of the Tuskegee Airmen to the silver screen.
George Lucas created the “Star Wars” universe and led Indiana Jones to the Lost Ark, but even he couldn’t overcome Hollywood’s racial barriers.
The cinema legend revealed this week that he struggled to get “Red Tails,” his movie about the Tuskegee Airmen, distributed earlier this year.
“It’s a fantastic story nobody knows about,” Lucas told Confidenti@l after receiving the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network’s Triumph Award from his “Star Wars” star Samuel L. Jackson. “And the studios didn’t want to release it. It was hard getting it into theaters. Civil rights still has a long way to go.”
Lucas added, “I’m from the ‘60s — I grew up in the time of Martin Luther King. I thought we were living in a postracial world. We elected President Obama. But we have a long way to go.”
Lucas, who’ll speak at the N.Y. Historical Society Friday about his documentary “Double Victory,” which is also about the Tuskegee airman, is doing his part to get us to a better world. He’s using his high-tech know-how to give students and teachers learning tools at Edutopia.org. His educational foundation, and with the help of his beautiful life partner Mellody Hobson, supports efforts like the After School Matters program. Hobson, the president of Ariel Investments, told the Daily News, “We help 22,000 students a year, and studies have shown that our graduation rates are higher.” To get out of poverty, she added, “Education is the only way.”
It’s possible the only color Hollywood execs see is green. Lucas invested nearly $60 million of his own money into the film’s production and sunk another $35 million into distribution. The war film was considered a box office bomb. By May, “Red Tails” was long gone from theaters and available for home rental.
While collecting his award in front of an audience that also included Sean (Diddy) Combs, Lucas said, “The past is gone. Let’s make the world the way it has to be. Let’s take over the future.”
It just bothers me that he and that site try to reframe it as him battling racism when it was mostly likely just the studio execs detecting a bad investment. Which I'm glad the New York Daily News points out in the original article.

I am ready for the trials!Speaking of slasher films, it's interesting Don Post never made masks of any human characters in the trilogy back in the day. The Captain Kirk mask they made of course became the infamous Michael Meyers mask in Halloween.

[8750] Infinate SumI think when he (Lucas) took on doing Tuskegee Airmen he should've re-made Empire Strikes Back as a WWII saga using CGI and stopped half way through with the comment "this is B*llsh*t , I'm going home to listen to Cantina Band Star Wars Theme 12'' Disco Mix by Meco. being he has billions and can quit half way through anyway. You know, to show off that with billions it really is no skin off his rear. Just a random thought.

Magister Pontifex MaximusAs this isn't the Off Topic zone I should point out that the link is to a discussion forum which I sincerely hope is satirical and may not be everyone's cup of blue milk.

I think it's funny how on the Star Wars theatrical DVD, sad music plays on the options menu. As if they know they messed up big time.

Just a simple man. Here's a really cool figure of Obi-Wan.
The Maul one is okay, too, but the Obi-Wan one has so much cool detail from his past exploits that it's really awesome.

Just a simple man.Yeah, I was glad they went with a "younger Sir Alec" look than an "older McGregor" look.
I guess it could be an amalgamation of the two, but still. A fantastic figure filled with a lot of sentimental items.

That figure of Obi-wan is quite brilliant and I love the little character blurb that goes with it. A perfect marriage of both prequel and original trilogy era.
Exactly the point I was trying to make, haha. I liked the nod to The Clone Wars, too; too bad the prequels weren't The Clone Wars...

I know, I know. It's quite a shame that the chemistry between the cartoon characters is so much better than that between the actors in the prequel films.
It's a testament to Filoni's direction, though. I would say he was even working with a deficit that he turned around and made positive again, in fact. Took a bunch of unlikable characters with no personality and made them likable and gave them life.
There have been some questionable decisions made (seemingly by Lucas mostly =P) but overall, the show has made me like and care about Anakin and Padme and made me feel like Obi-Wan and Anakin are actually "brothers". Exceptional, considering the tripe we had to deal with in the prequels.
Also, it seems like they did do an Older McGregor head for the Kenobi figure. I wonder if it'll be included as well? That'd be cool.
Personally I'm excited for the Boba in the preview photo at the top. Three blasters, a knife, PrePro helmet with Jaig eyes. Kama and poncho. So awesome looking.
