I agree with all of this.

Reginald ScumWell, a friend of mine is planning to completely rewrite the prequels from scratch in novelized form, creating a completely new story that refers only to older material. Will that do? ;)
The idea is to complete the "trilogy of trilogies", with the original unaltered films being episodes four, five and six; the Thrawn books by Timothy Zahn as episodes seven, eight, and nine; and these being one, two, and three and written in a manner completely consistent with them. I've been collaborating with him on his writing for nearly a year now, and I have complete confidence that he'll be able to pull this off—he's a very talented storyteller, and he shares my enthusiasm for oldschool Star Wars as well.
Now it's going to be a while before it's ready, as he's in the middle of another project and the prequel rewrite only exists in a general outline of ideas so far, but I can surely promise that it's going to be great. :)

Han D. SoloThat sounds great :-) I had an idea like that myself but I don't have the patience.

Lucas: I am altering the film. Pray I don't alter it any further.
Fans: This film is getting worse all the time!

I am ready for the trials!Anybody remember the essential guides back in the 90s? It was a shame that they had to revise those to fit with the prequels.
Sounding like a broken record since May 2006.

Just a simple man^ Oh man I remember those. I never owned one of the books but loved going to bookstores to peruse them.
Steve Sansweet also had a huge encyclopedia that, before the PT, was the holy grail of SW information.

I worked at a large entertainment store with movies, books, games, etc., and during breaks I would sneak into the back of the store with the SW encyclopedia and "study".

I am ready for the trials! The stuff before the PT, sorry to say it, was so much better than it is now. Another sad casualty of the prequels, that they were forced to write the SW universe from scratch to fit with inferior movies. And all of this could have been corrected by GL actually reading what happened in the OT first!
Sounding like a broken record since May 2006.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.
