Hahah the Battle for Endor depended completely on this moment.

This is obviously some new use of the word epic that I was previously unaware of.

Has anybody been following this thing about the fan's reaction to Simon Pegg voicing Dengar in the Clone Wars.

The certain point of view guy is particularly infuriating.

This whole thing sounds pretty damn petty if you ask me.  Pegg is basically being ostracized from fandom by these ass hats just because he doesn't think the prequels are good movies.

I've been saying for years that The Clone Wars is 10 times better than any of the prequels so I don't find it difficult to believe that Pegg might have some more respect for that show than the movies.

It's this "true fan" elitism bull crap that really pisses me with the whole community.

They do misuse the word "hypocrite" a lot, though that is a common mistake. The very little I've seen of the Clone Wars, they seem fun and well composed. It's too bad the PT is their bedrock. Pegg is allowed to think the PT is rubbish and still like the Clone Wars without being hypocritical.

This is not a lightsaber. Nor a euphemism.

I have zero interest in the CW cartoon.

That said, I know about Pegg criticizing the prequels and the recent blu-ray changes.  But, as a big OT fan he probably jumped at the idea of voicing an OT character. I'm more surprised that Lucas has seemingly overlooked Pegg's criticism, as George seems to be very sensitive to criticism.

At the end of the day, it's just a paycheck for Simon Pegg.

My interest level in the CW cartoon (or any other modern-produced SW material) remains at zero.

If George had a problem with Mr. Pegg's opinions, I don't think he would even be hired in the first place.

One of Simon's comedy bits was on the Blu Ray bonus disc for crying out loud!

That's what I'm saying. I would have expected George to be miffed by Pegg's comments and not have any inclination to hire the man.

Since Pegg is voicing Dengar, the logical conclusion is that George doesn't mind Pegg's comments (or doesn't care enough to miss out on an opportunity to hire a big name for his show and boost ratings).

I didn't know Pegg is on the blu-ray disc (because I didn't buy it - actually, I preordered for $45 then sold for a profit). Again, surprises me a bit since George is sensitive and doesn't seem the type to permit an over prequel critic to be featured on a product of his.

Yeah, this guys blog is good for a laugh.  Although it's also kind of frightening that there are people out there with his mindset.

His assessment of the OT preservation and release situation is particularly maddening.

I had zero interest as well until a realized that the Clone Wars is basically the version of the prequels that we should have got to begin with.

Unfortunately the show does require at least an acceptance of the prequels since they establish the baseline for the show so it would be difficult for someone who prefers to ignore the prequels to take any part in the series.

I can say thought that Dave Filoni and his team do an excellent job of capturing a greater original trilogy feel than the prequels did, mostly since Lucas isn't writing or directing.

I just simply don't care about Star Wars anymore. What that means is that nothing outside of the UOT or some of the 90s EU material interests me. The franchise is so bloated and worn out.

That's not to say that current SW material can't be interesting or well done. I hear good things about CW, but to be honest it all kind of sounds silly. "Savage Oppress"? Why not just name a character, "Bad Guy"?

Then there's the whole resurrecting Darth Maul thing that times with the 3D TPM release. An obvious stunt to rope in more people who didn't like the prequels yet can't turn away completely.

I digress.

I had an idea for how I might re-order the Clone Wars narrative so that a selection of episodes could basically serve as the back-story to Star Wars without necessarily requiring anyone to view the prequels.  Not so much a fan edit but more of a suggested viewing order.  I'd have to wait until the series wraps though but I have a few ideas already.

When I do acknowledge the prequels, the order is:

Star Wars: Episode I - Attack of the Clones

Star Wars: Episode II - The Clone Wars

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

I actually just got banned from TFN because I used the word "effeminate" to describe Filoni.  (The dude has a thick lisp, a womanly gait, and, well, let's just leave it at that.)  I'm sorry, but I can state obvious observations, can't I?)

if you called harry knowles fat, smelly, a suck up and a shill, TFN would've loved you.

hard to believe its been so long since I first went onto that website in 1997 - back when it was still the Texas A&M star wars fan website. After 2000, things totally changed.  and after 2006, it was just a shadow of its former self.

The bashers' sanctuary was always praised by lurkers for having the most knowledgeable fans.

those were the days....The Star Wars Inter-Fido network, StarWarsfan.org, PrequelWatch.org, aldera.net, sirstevesguide

there was once a thread on TFN 1999 called "Two All-Beefed Padme's", 3 months before TPM.  for me, thjat thread represents the absolute last time SW fans were able to celebrate and enjoy.

The posters there immediately started saying they were "offended" by calling somebody effeminate, one even started saying he was "transgendered" and so I was offensive to him.

This is the main reason I don't post on the TFN boards anymore: almost everyone there in a high-strung candy-ass.

I don't know if anybody here saw Dave Filoni's TCW movie, but it was as big a piece of shit as you could fear.  In terms of SW continuity (OT or PT), it was a total abmonation, in terms of story, it was a joke, and the animation was bad, too (although that aspect wasn't too bothersome to me).

I wasn't all that impressed with the movie either but the show does have some pretty kick ass episodes if you can get past some of the more silly ones.

A few I would recommend would be:

-Rookies

-Trespass

-Hostage Crisis

-The Holocron Trilogy (Holocron Heist, Cargo of Doom, Children of the Force)

-The Deserter

-The Zillo Beast, and The Zillo Beast Strikes Back

-The Nightsisters/Return of Darth Maul (Nightsisters, Monster, Witches of the Mist, Massacre, Bounty, Brothers, Revenge)

-Chewbacca (Padawan Lost, Wookie Hunt)

-Umbara (Darkness on Umbara, The General, Plan of Dissent, Carnage of Krell)

-The Slavers (Kidnapped, Slaves of the Republic, Escape from Kadavo)

As a laid-back candy-ass, I just can't be bothered to be offended by that statement.

I still love Star Wars, but I have learned to compartmentalize what I care about and what I don't.  As I've said many times, I discount most of the EU, and hold the PT on a lower level than the OT in my personal canon, but still do enjoy them.  And as I've also repeatedly said, I enjoy one portion or another and different times, for instance, if I'm reading the Thrawn trilogy that I love so much, I'm ignoring the PT, and if I'm watching the PT that I enjoy but not as nearly as much as the OT, I ignore the Thrawn trilogy; they're different Star Wars universes for me.

I have been interested in the Clone Wars stuff (though I haven't seen a whole lot of it), especially considering the good reviews and the fact that it covers material that should have been covered in the actual PT, but hearing about the above named boneheads ("Bad Guy" and "Darth Torso"), I really lost a lot of hope in the series.  That makes two very bad moves, and if they'd left it at just Oppress (preferably with a different name), then it could have at least been a hiccup rather than a absolute error in my mind.
