Welcome aboard, Ben!
It's very refreshing to hear the perspective of such a young fan. I might have to rethink my opinions about you darn kids. ;)
I'm only 19 (and I've been here for a few years) and I have the same mindset about Star Wars as any OOT-lover. Age doesn't reflect fandom. ;)

My main beef actually, with the PT is that George Lucas didn't have the balls to make Jar Jar a major character screen time wise - though I have a lot of problems with things like that actually that I don't think are appropriate for this thread.
I've never really hated Jar Jar as much of most people. He's annoying yes, but really, he's suppose to be and he plays his role well. Now, little kid Anakin is a different story, him I want to punch in the face every time words come out of his mouth. But I've always thought that Lucas had some sort of development for that character intended for the next two movies that never came to fruition because he caved to the fans and shoved him into the background for the next two movies.

Use The Forks!Still, the plan to redo the original trilogy in 3D is out there, and now Lucas is claiming it wasn't his fault the latest trilogy sucked so bad, it was that technology hadn't caught up to his vision, and he was rushed so the Phantom Menace script wasn't ready yet, and on and on. In the Lucasfilms interview he blames "certain people" he won't name for having JarJar Binks in the film and so on. Basically despite having total control, no editor, and making the movie entirely on his own dime, Lucas is blaming other people for how his movies suck.
That statement looks like someone's read this and thought it was for real:

Random Thought:
LUKE
You know, between his howling and your blasting everything in sight, it's a wonder the whole station doesn't know we're here.
HAN
Bring them on! I prefer a straight fight to all this sneaking around.
THREEPIO
We found the computer outlet, sir.
Ben feeds some information into the computer and a map of the city appears on the monitor. He begins to inspect it carefully. Threepio and Artoo look over the control panel. Artoo finds something that makes him whistle wildly.
BEN
Plug in. He should be able to interpret the entire Imperial computer network.
Artoo punches his claw arm into the computer socket and the vast Imperial brain network comes to life, feeding information to the little robot. After a few moments, he beeps something.
THREEPIO
He says he's found the main computer to power the tractor beam that's holding the ship here. He'll try to make the precise location appear on the monitor.
The computer monitor flashes readouts.
THREEPIO
The tractor beam is coupled to the main reactor in seven locations. A power loss at one of the terminals will allow the ship to leave.
Ben studies the data on the monitor readout.
BEN
I don't think you boys can help. I must go alone.
HAN
Whatever you say. I've done more that I bargained for on this trip already.
Artoo casually beeps again.
THREEPIO
He says don't worry, he can switch it off from here....
Artoo makes a satisfying beep.
THREEPIO
...and he has made sure that the ship is refuelled and had the windshield cleaned.
LUKE
Well that was a short visit

Anyone know why they didn't create the crawl text in 3D (as the storyboard below shows) but switched to just 2D text?

Maybe it was just too complicated to do it "3D", or too cluttered for a long scroll? The 2D is more in keeping with the old matinee serials that inspired it.

But Star Wars in 3D is Georges original vision! Won't be surprised to see LFL use this picture to back up that "fact".

Magister Pontifex MaximusIn an alternate universe somewhere the same nice George Lucas who helped make this possible put it on his excellent Blu-Ray release of the OUT:ESB as a supporting feature.
I've been haunted by the memory of that short film for almost 32 years.

i dunno, it wasn't dumb but it just wasn't funny either.
guess only commercials with vader are funny.
for all the TPM promotions -you'd think with the 3d gimmick, they would want to show pod racers.

Say, just something that occurred to me that I thought I'd ask and this seemed to be the right thread to do it.
Has anyone heard about Technicolor prints of ESB and RotJ being out there in private hands? Were there even any Technicolor prints made of those two? I hear a lot about the various privately owned prints of SW but I haven't heard of any existing for Empire and Jedi.

nope, no prints were made. Technicolor was on its last legs even in 1977 and closed down the following year, I believe.
