I'm sure the actual script 3.09 makes a good job with ESB and ROTJ too, because the quality of the unprocessed videos is a littlebit superior compared to the unprocessed ANH.

I encoded all three movies earlier this year with the script that was actual at this time and the result was really, really good, although I did not alter the script for every movie.

ROTJ looked the best with the script then.

Well, ROTJ looks the best of the three right out of the box, so that makes sense.

What about the anti-aliasing part though? SW has the worst aliasing problem, and it's surprising that the anti-aliasing part of the script didn't negatively affect the other 2 films since they didn't have as bad a problem as SW did.

Maybe the script needs to be changed for every movie individually, I don't know.

My thought was, that what improves ANH, improves ESB and ROTJ too and when the encodings were done I was satisfied with the result. Maybe the result would become even better with a individual script for every single movie, I don't know.

Here are a few screenshots of ESB encoded with the script v. 3.09:

Sorry, I couldn't manage it to resize them exactly.

Here is another pic, look at the background:

This is not perfect. However, I can live with that, because the rest of the encodings is great so far...

Yeah, except for the weird artifacts in the last one, the screenshots look good.

There's one scene in particular from SW that I'm curious about: in the scene where Luke and Han are walking down the steps during the medal ceremony, there's some odd aliasing in the area of Luke's mouth. I wonder how well the script handles that (?)

Yes, g-force is the man who brings the GOUT to us, and no one else ;-)

I didn't change any parameters for this.

I looked at the scene and would say 'no'.

"No" meaning, it wouldn't help it at all, or, "no" meaning you've already looked at the processed version of that scene and it still looks bad?

Thanks! That's encouraging. :-)

i noticed this line is changed from 3.09...

###############################################################

last.MVDegrain2(bw_vec1,fw_vec1,bw_vec2,fw_vec2,thSAD=400,thSCD1=150,thSCD2=75,idx=3)

my concern is that it will impact the original GOUT,

so i will try that again to see what happens..

i've done the comparison here with the GOUT clip of esb,

and the 3.09b version of the script:

===============================

http://rapidshare.com/files/158930291/esb_comp2.avi.html

here's the original vs gforce (bottom image)

================================

http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/8171/esbcomp01ko9.jpg

it looks like the blue tint is gone, and of course some sharpness, and contrast

improvements..

but i'm not sure how much better than the original it is, because this is just one

small clip... i haven't tried to encode the whole movie.

i still think that different modifications need to be made for the script for each

movie, due to the different problems / scenes that each movie has..

G-force,

thank you very much for your latest update, this one fixed the artifact-problem.

For comparision here is the screenshot of the frame with script 3.09

and here is the same frame with script 3.09b:

I was encoding the whole movie, and will start encoding it again. I could post screenshots if there will appear other flaws...

Not sure, but when I watch your sample clip to my eyes this gives more detail to the image.

which clip? i posted the clip of the issues from the 'darth vader' scene, not this one..

i'm not talking about the detail, that's due to sharpening, i'm talking about the color

of the images.. the sky is looks slightly different, and the orange jumpsuit does also,

it's kind of minor, but still..

osj or g-force,

i've encoded another chapter of 'star wars' ep4, with the script and

hc encoder v0.23... i'm getting a lot of interlacing artifacts...

***********************************************

edit : nevermind, it was a setting in my video player, its fine.

The whole original video looks a littlebit darker than the processed video,  The original "Vader-scene" looks darker too, I thought you meant that.

Sorry, my misunderstanding.

I just watched the "snowspeeder"-scene and I must say that I'm satisfied with the picture-quality.

 sure no problem.

by the way, have you tried the upscaling script yet?

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Any-Suggestions-for-Better-Uprez-to-HD/post/334691/#post334691

i'm having some issues with deinterlacing artifacts in the uprez, and thought

you might have some ideas,...

i'm going to try some new filters to see if they help..
