Friends in Low Places?

Apologies for the content of this post.

So... I have this problem I can't seem to solve on my own.

You know that online site that's f-something-something-something-book but not facebook?  Well, apparently someone has used my cell phone number on a posting of some hot chick and I get weekly texts from sweaty dudes who want to...  well...

I've googled how to get my number off of there but so far, any google with that sitename in it takes me to a variety of places that are... unhelpful.

Does anyone have any good ideas?  Anyone a member and can maybe submit a case for me?  Can you search by phone number?  Probably not.

If you can help, PM me and I will send the phone number in question.  I'd just post it here, but I know what you jokers would do with it.  ;)

So far I've just been ignoring the texts- hoping they'd go away, but some of these guys are... persistant.

I understand you might wish to solve the problem without visiting the site in question, but the easiest way would probably be to contact the site admin through their contact page and request they remove the post.

I think I did go to the site to see if there were any contact options on the front page.  It was a month ago, so I might be making that up.  If I did go, there wasn't anything in front of the green door, so to speak.

Did they typo your number or is this a great practical joke? And why can't you put your number on here, we may text you, but it wouldn't be for... that.

It's not a number I actually use.  It's my phone's real phone number, but I give everyone my google voice number.  I don't actually even have the number memorized.

So if it's not a typo, I'm sure I'm the victim of a random number generator, or it's the profile of the previous owner of the number.  I've had the number for just under a year and I've just stopped getting "Happy <Holiday>!" voicemails from people I don't know.

You inspired me to finally try Google Voice. I don't think I can ever go back.

Just don't let me inspire you to try the other online service listed in this thread.  ;)

If worst comes to worst, you can always call your cell provider and have your number changed. I had to do this awhile back when my wife and I were being harassed by a stalker, and it seemed to solve the problem quite nicely.

Hmm... I wonder if that's why the old owner of the number doesn't have it anymore...
