I'm new to this forum.  I haven't watched Star Wars in years because I bought the Special Edition thinking I could just ignore the edits, but I couldn't.  I've since thrown it out and haven't gotten to enjoy it since.  I woudn't mind seeing the "GOUT" version I've seen on here.  Looks really good.

Anyway, I've stumbled upon this forum after seeing it mentioned in a documentary on Star Wars I watched recently on NetFlix.

Years ago back in the 1990s there was a company called Genuine Fractals.  They made a really good program that did just one thing:  resize pictures.  It was unique in that it used fractal equations (similar to the kind used to generate plants, trees, etc. in organic scientific modeling) to best interpret the missing data when you scale an image up.  Almost how your brain does it when you create an animation, but in a more tangible presentation.

I was wondering if anyone here has experimented with using a similar process to help scale the transfers to HD, or, to enhance detail on the SD version.  I've made an "enhanced" picture below using Fractals.  The difference may be a little hard to see, but if you zoom in 150% to 200%, you'll start to notice the difference in detail.  If you have any program where you can toggle between the two, you'll really notice the difference.  The source image is one from the Screenshots page.

I realize this may be sort of the opposite direction in terms of preserving the originals, but figured I'd share my thoughts.
