I think the Dooku choke works but perhaps it could be intercut with shots of Star Wars characters drinking to avoid repeating too much footage of Dooku.

You could even use some of Ewan's Moulin Rouge stuff to instigate a duet of sorts.

How does rotoscoping his mouth from Captain Invincible footage or maybe putting his Star Wars beard onto material from that film grab you (too much like hard work)?

It would help with the lip synch.

Adding a beard on here would make it useable during the conference scene.

The Wicker Man is full of little bits of dialogue which would be useful it also has more songs.

Like you said, too much hard work.

Came up with an idea this morning:

Replace all of Dooku's dialog with Saruman. Or at least a few lines. I'm imagining "Your love of the Halfling's leaf has clouded your mind" could be used in a few places.

Already considered that.  I like it, but I really like the idea of Dooku singing only.  Not sure what to do here....hmmm....

I thought that "The Saga Begins" worked really well in The Ridiculous Menace, and would love to see Weird Al songs incorporated into the next two edits, too. Some ideas:

-"I Think I'm a Clone Now," track 5 on Even Worse. Could work well when Obi-Wan is being given a tour of the Kaminoan's cloning facility.

Already planned on that one.

-"Yoda," track 5 on Dare to be Stupid. Might go well either with Yoda's duel in this movie, or in the next.

Probably will save this for ROTR.

Use the Japanese track sped up a tad during the sword fights, like a badly dubbed kung fu movie.

What do you mean, the Japanese language track on the R1 DVD?

*corrected Freudian slit.

The roto work might be hard work but the other ideas might not be.

In the chancellor's office when Mace is defending Dooku against being behind the attack on Padme, one of the alien senators could claim Dooku is a master of disguise and could be any of them.

You could later give one of the Separatist leaders a subtitle that bemoans how the Count's disguises are rubbish which would allow you to have him grow a beard, lose a beard, grow a longer beard, wear an eyepatch etc

That way you could use raw Christopher Lee footage from all over his career.

The idea of making Episode 2 a musical could have legs.

How many actors in the film have had singing roles?

I could stand having Ewan McGregor yell/sing "MY GIFT IS MY SONG!" at people.

EDIT: I just about spit out my breakfast when I imagined him yelling that at Fried Anakin instead of "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!"

ALSO: Frink, have you seen this, it reminded me of your work:

I was not aware Christopher Lee had such a large repertoire.

That's impressive. I'm not sold on having him ONLY sing yet. I still like some Saruman lines.

I know the Friday song works in the long drive across the desert... but think how awesome this would be:

And OB1 has to say "This is getting Ridiculous" during Count Count's song.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

You could sync up Yoda's jumps in the lightsaber fight with Dooku to the "Jump Around's" in the refrain, and even cut away to the Yoda dance easter egg from the ROTS DVD for a music video feel. : P

P.S.: I've watched The Ridiculous Menace and really enjoyed it, but I keep putting off a written review. I'll write it up soon. Keep up the good work, TV's Frink!

Oh man, I love this.  And I already own the song - BONUS!!!

I probably will find a different place for it, however.

Love the latest clip Frink.  I lol'ed a few times:

-- "Shall I take their coats?"

-- "Do it!"

-- "Perhaps Master Windu?"

-- "No.  $#@& no."

:)

Funny!

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish memes.

RE: Episode II: Attack of the Ridiculousness

Opinion time...

Originally I planned to drop the bit where Obi refers to himself in third person. However, people seem to love it, and frankly I do too. Tonight I had an idea to take it one step further and have him do it to other people as well. I think it's a fun idea but it will be a ton of work...not to mention how choppy the audio becomes (which was a deal-breaker for many people in TRM). Here's an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtWfUdeXjC0

I'm leaning towards abandoning this. Thoughts?

darth_ender's avatar
RE: Episode II: Attack of the Ridiculousness

Personally I suggest you stick just with self-reference.  Like you said, the choppiness was off-putting for some, so you don't want to make it excessive, and the same goes for the joke.  It's probably funniest just leaving it in reference to Obi-wan.  But please keep it for himself.

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

I dont know... a few can be sprinkled into it.
Obi Wan is going down the path of Ric Olie : pointing out the obvious.
