As am I.  Thanks for all your efforts; I check the preservation forum every day for updates to the Droids and Ewoks threads :)  I truly am grateful that you've put so much into this.

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Password for all ROTJ-related clips: ROTJ

A very rough edit of how the Battle of Endor could go
A very rough idea of how ROTJ could end

Rough edit based on the final script with some deviation:

Part 1  Part 2  Part 3  Part 4

I have the complete series from MySpleen, but it's pretty rough. I know this will be far better. Hope things are going well. Sounds like some of it is a pain in the neck. :p

Hey Ed, how's the project going ?

I've been asked if I would continue doing a DVD version of VideoCollector's VHS tapes after I upload the last Ewoks DVD.

This is great! I was just going through my video collection and came across my Droids and Ewoks DVD's and a VHS of the Droids "The Pirates and the Prince."

It's good to see yet another facet of the LFL revisionism is being foiled. :)

I look forward to your results!

Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans.  That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Sorry guys, just got back from vacation.  Had to take the kiddo down to visit the grandparents.

This project hasn't stalled, but I have been waiting on my second copy of the Droids 3 tape to show up, as the one I have on hand isn't the best quality for audio.

But I may just roll with it.  Unless maybe pittrek or VideoCollector wouldn't mind sending me a copy of their Droids 3 PAL tapes? :)

The only thing "I" could send you were mpg2 files. VideoCollector has the original tapes

I just picked this up from Goodwill the other day, just for the heck of it (never seen any of the cartoons or the Holiday Special). Is it the same as what's on the DVD? Wikipedia doesn't say.

Would the commercials for the Droids action figures and other toys be something you'd consider adding to this project?

none,

I downloaded those a while ago.  I also sent the guy that uploaded them a message to see if he still had the VHS tapes or a DVD of that stuff.

No response yet :(

If anybody else wants to try and contact him that would be cool!

The VHS tapes released by J2 in the late 80's/early 90's are similar to the original airings.  The Lucasfilm and Fox VHS tapes released in the late 90's/ealry 2000's are similar to what you get on the DVD's.

I'm interested in this set as well, I've never seen the show before, looking forward to it!

Okay, thanks. Yeah, mine's LucasFilms/Fox, I think the very tiny print says 1996.

Bump. Any news? My daughter loves the Droids series, and it would be nice to have them all someday. Here's hoping this project is still on track!

I just spoke with ringwraith on the phone last week and he is mailing me my Droids 3 tape so I can copy the English audio.  That is pretty much all I am waiting on.

The video portion for everything is done.  At least for version 1.0

Other than that I only have the excuses of personal life, blah blah blah :)

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!!!! By the way, I have raw DVD transfers of the UK Droids VHS series from tapes that were in mint to near mint condition. If these may be of any use to the restoration let me know. Only problem is I'm fairly sure they are in PAL format.

G, I'd be interested to see if you can come up with some AviSynth magic to restore the original progressive frames from the 25fps blended source.

I've tried and failed, although I haven't completely given up trying yet.
