Anything Lucas has input on in my mind is G-Canon whether this is stated or not.  That incldues the new clone wars cartoon and force unleashed.

But not the EU, and certainly not the Genddy clone wars which lucas had very little control over.

The first person to try and tie all the loose EU ends together was Kevin Anderson, when he wrote the star wars chronology.  It was supposed to be one large epic tome and a novel.  In the end after much delays the scope of that never happened and it became much more a feigned historical text.

But what do i know i have my own personal canon where the Zahn novels are the true sequels to return of the Jedi, Mara Jade is a canonized character, and she never died. Also Jango fett does not exist, boba's parentage is a mystery and he is a former journeyman protector formerly known as Jaster Mareel.

Also he helped Vader hunt down the Jedi with an army of mandalorian supertroopers, and the clone wars was cloned Jedi's not clones of a character made up at the last minute.  Qui Gon does not exist nor do midichlorians.  Obi Wan is trained by Yoda.  Anakin is a great starfighter pilot and good friend of obi wan who follows him on damn fool idealistic crusades.  he is slowly tempted to evil by ambitious senator palpatine who becomes President of the Republic.

Then aren't his parents Mr. and Mrs. Mareel?

Savage Opress. That name is utterly vomitrocious.

Sigh ... I remember when the EU used to create decent darksiders with decent names. Now they're all emos with stupid red glowsticks.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

Jaster?

Ugh.

This is how I picture Lucas coming up with names:

"Ok, let's base one off of Master.  Remove the "M" and get out the Boggle Cube!!!"

Remember that in Episode III inside Grievous ship is also Commander Nefarious, Captain I'm-A Bad-Guy and Admiral Bone-To-Pick.

These same types of discussions come up on the Indiana Jones board from time to time. My thoughts are the same for both - I find it absolutely hilarious that there are various classifications of canon.  It's all make-believe.  There isn't official make-believe - it's all fucking make-believe.

I'm with Frink on this one.  It's not something I give one iota of credence to.  I read what I like - ignore what I don't.  What George decides is real or not is of zero concern to me - other than the fact that the more he approves of something, the more I see it as a complete waste of time i.e - everything after 1980.

I'll decide what's worth bothering with - not someone who has decided their make-believe is the official make-believe. A fucking website devoted to levels of official make-believe? - and people allow themselves to be governed by it?  That's pure fucking genius on the part of Lucas.

He actually has followers who wait - and abide by - his decisions of what's real fake vs fake fake.  A tip of the hat to you, George.  You are one savvy son of a bitch.

Well said, Anchorhead.  You made me laugh with that last paragraph.  But it's so true!  I (like many seem to) have my own personal version of the Star Wars universe consisting of the things i've watched or read that I liked & "felt like Star Wars".  If I take a chance on something & it doesn't jive with my world, I toss it.

Oh, & what Indy board?  I've browsed theraider.net occasionally but am unaware of any others.

That's it for me exactly.  It's much easier than some people seem to think it is. Why they would let Lucas make those types of personal decisions for them is beyond my ability to comprehend.  Particularly since he has a habit of changing things on the fly, often times decades after the fact, and then lying about it.  ???

That's the one.

I know it's already been said by a few people, but... Savage Oppress?!  What the hell kind of name is that?  I thought sky was referring to the name of an episode or a new video game, which would still be a stupid name, but not as bad as a name for a character!  This makes "General Grievous" sound like a frickin sonnet!

I'm going to cut back on the hate because in the cartoon, he's only ever called "Suh-VAHJ!" which isn't as bad as when you read his name. I don't think his last name was in the cartoon.

There's a lot of dumb stuff (like Ethan Sleazebaggo) that seems unfair to complain about since they aren't actually in the films.

I know, but his name isn't. "Devin Felth" the stormtrooper is in "Star Wars" but his lame name isn't.

Let's not forget Whorm Loathsom from the Clone Wars movie, and Savage's brother Feral. I enjoy the show, but they really need to stop with the lame names.

I hate the Star Wars universe.  Why in the heck do I need to know Boba Fett's fathers name when all I want to do is put a good laserdisc transfer in my DVD player and enjoy the movie?  It's retarded.

At this rate, season five will no doubt introduce Darth Hitler.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.
