If you live in Europe and are trying to get ahold of the JSC you can try tradera, I believe the set is up for sale there right now.
True, but this site of soooo Swedish, I don't understand a word of it.
you can open the page via google translate and it should make sense enough to navigate around. Of course if you were planning on buying them you would have to open an account and ask the person if you could pay via paypal and have them shipped internationally.
Luke threw twice....maybe.

It's quite hard to say at the moment - the only proper review so far skips the issue of the film's history of revisions entirely, and just gives a neutral commentary on this disc's AV qualities. From comments on the angry HTF thread it sounds as if this might be derived from the same HD master prepared for the previous DVD, so content-wise it will in all probability be the same.
Well, I recently watched the new blu-ray and I can confirm that no further tweaks have been done as far as I can see, it's the extended 25th anniversary edition and it looks fantastic IMO, the warmer color pallette is back and the great audio mix is left untouched. :)
Here's a nice blu-ray vs DVD comparison: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/index.php?vergleich=american_graffiti
Do anyone know if the original opening shot was part matte painting?

The reason I'm asking is that I recently noticed that some objects on the background building in the opening shot isn't visible later on in the film:

The angle is of course different but I think you would at least see the sign back there, was a matte used in this shot or could it be another 1998 digital tweak?
The tweaked opening shot removed more than that sign though:

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

"This is a film by a filmmaker desperately in love with filmmaking" - Harold KnowlesResonator: if you are offering to make DVD-R transfers of LDs from OT.com members, a few things we need first:
(1) where are you located, being that if you are willing to make LD2DVD transfers, we'll need a shipping address to send them to (I understand if it is through PM).
(2) one thing that can be posted: what are the costs per disc transfer? I understand if we pay for shipping and DVD-R(s), but is there anything else to add?
I have one or two myself:
GYPSY ANGELS (only movie Vanna White gets nekid in).
DEATH MACHINE (primarily need AC3 Dolby Digital Surround track to mux with German 16:9 DVD video image)

I'm not gonna do LD-DVD transfers, that's not what I was shooting for. What I COULD do is capture the Laserdiscs I already have and post the raw captures on Usenet for OTHERS to use in their projects. My current pet project is not SW related, but I love this community and I wanted to contribute somehow.
Plus - I'm afaid I can't capture AC3, I don't have an RF modulator.

"HA, Ha, you r ghey" was probably a hilariously insulting comment in Elementary and Middle School, but its not cooly insulting anymore and its certainly not funny: it makes people who say it look like, well, an "inbred monkey." TheSessler

How are you going to capture and in what format?
