This is a Shadows of the Empire fan film that is up on Kickstarter...
Do you think this project looks worthy of being a good fan film?

Ointment FlyI don't think any fan film is worth donating towards, unless it has "Revisited" in the title.

Well, I don't see how Disney will allow that...

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick.I applaud the use of models over CGI. Though that crawl could use some work. I had trouble deciphering the last paragraph. I'm curious why the official crawl wasn't used:
Ultimate victory lies within the grasp of
the dreaded Galactic Emperor Palpatine as
the tattered remnants of the Rebel fleet
desperately seek sanctuary and time
to muster new allies.
A grim Luke Skywalker, reeling from Darth
Vader's revelation on the cloud city of Bespin,
ponders his own destiny and that of the Rebel
Alliance. Meanwhile, the search ensues for
Han Solo, captive of the notorious
bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
To deal a final blow to the Rebellion, Palpatine
has hatched a new plan of which even Lord
Vader is unaware. To aid him, the Emperor
has enlisted the services of the vast criminal
underworld that lurks within the
Shadows of the Empire...
Join Space Command and then help back Jack Houston and the Necronauts!

How funny, I've never seen this version of the opening crawl, I do like it though. The crawl isn't finalized, it's definitely open for changes. I can't say for sure what it would be in the end, and by the looks of it, it probably won't even get funded... so the project will probably be on hold for a long time... Not sure what the case is. Perhaps not a lot of people are seeing the project, perhaps not many people care about Shadows of the Empire, or just simply don't think I can make it worth while... Idk it could be a combination of all of them amongst other things lol...

Not sure, there are other Star Wars Kickstarter projects that have been sucessfully funded, they've ranged from getting 5-28 thousand dollars... Although with Disney owning Lucasfilm, that could have changed... Nothing has happened yet though.

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTI think it is worth the effort. Adywan's work only gained support after demonstrating that he was absolutely committed to completing his amazing edit. People don't trust other people on the Internet. First, there are lots of scammers, and second, there are lots of people who are not committed to finishing what they start. If you are able to keep putting out demonstration videos and show that you are making substantial progress, I'm sure folks will start to get behind you. I hope that's not depressing news because I'd really like to see what you are producing. Best of luck, as it looks like an awesome project. I hope you find some early donors, and hopefully you'll develop a fan club.
The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit. Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Thanks darth_ender! I find this to be motivating, it's good to know that you are interested in it. I expect my campaign will fail, but oh well, there's always new things to learn... It will take a little while to get some more stuff done... to give you an insight of what to look forward to though... The next step for me will be to complete a few model kits and shoot space battles for the movie. That should be a good leap in the right direction... and from there I can work on costumes, get some of the actors ready and shoot a few scenes with them, and make a trailer... Maybe when I get that done, it will instill enough confidence in people to get the project funded.

I think the voice in the video sounds a bit like George Lucas. Maybe it is, and since he sold everything off, he has to do fan edits now. ;-)
FYI - the crawl says "An intricate figured has emerged".

Thanks, that was kind of embarrassing. I've made so many edits to the crawl I guess I messed up on that last one. I still should have had it right before uploading :/

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTPlease make sure you keep us updated on this project. What you are doing is quite ambitious, and I don't see you doing it alone. How much help do you already have? I've always been an advocate for collaborative projects, and I suggest you gather a crew behind you if you want to make it a reality. As you said, if you can get even a relatively small amount of quality work done and impress some folks, you'll get more support. Again, I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you, I will definitely keep you guys up-to-date. If the funding does fail, it will not be the end of the project. It will be postponed until we can get something impressive to show though... I think that we will start with buying model kits and putting together some space battles. Once we do that, we may move on to getting a cast for the film, depending on how things go, we will eventually pledge again with a lot more to show for what we will achieve.
All of the work done so far on the project has been done entirely by me. I have about 5 other people locally that are willing to help with building sets and model kits. There are a few extra people I know that are very good at sewing and are willing to help make the costumes that we cannot buy or aren't high quality enough.
Another thing we will do before making the next pledge... is that we're going to do some short fan films of other things not Star Wars that will not be too expensive... though they will require us to make our own costumes and some impressive effects... I'm keeping it a secret for now, but I've got something that I'm brewing up. I've realized with this that a lot of people really want to see some completed work. They want to know about my ability to write and direct, about my knowledge of cameras, lenses and audio... There is no better way of showing that I know what I'm doing than completing some other fan films. If you are really wanting to keep up-to-date with us, you should add me on Facebook. We are going to put some impressive work out there to turn the heads of the ones in doubt.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterSeveral years ago, there was a rather high-profile fan project that solicited funding from members here. I and many others donated. The project fizzled and was never completed, and since then a number of us have been reluctant to donate to fan projects. Plus, arguably the most significant and successful projects have completed without any funding at all. I certainly wish you luck both in your project and your fund raising, but don't be surprised if you find less enthusiasm for donating than perhaps on other similar forums.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityI'm afraid that this project might not only draw the wrath of Disney/Fox, but also Bantam Books, Dark Horse Comics, Nintendo, Varèse Sarabande, and anyone else involved in the conception of Shadows.
I'm surprised Kickstarter hasn't taken it down, as the guidelines say that you can't post anything you don't own the intellectual property of.
I wish you the best of luck, I just advise that this be kept on the down low.

See You, Space Cowboy...The x0 project.
Keep in mind that it's likely Laserman passed away and that may have a huge deal to do with how nothing ended up materializing other than one raw capture years later.

Jedi KnightThe X-0 project or that vapor ware project simply became unnecessary after the 2006 Gout was released.
The greatest vapor ware fan film is the unreleased installment of Return of Pink Five.
