Discussion about other movies?

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in talking about other movies than SW in general, like new BD releases and how they compare previous releases and possible revisionism in them, up-coming movies etc. There are some threads in Off Topic section but that's full of other crap, too. So I'm suggesting a new forum for that if there's interest...

James Bond
Dracula
Indiana Jones

After being a member here for half of a decade, it seems that these are the "other movies" that come up most often.  But perhaps an "other movie" forum would be better than mixing it in with the mornothons in Off Topic.

Which reminds me, I need to take another lap.

Don't forget The Room.  Definitely need a forum for that.

I'm also hoping for a movie discussion forum in the near future...

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

I was just thinking that we needed an "Other Movie Discussion" Forum again.  I had forgotten that so specific a request had been made, so I was coming here to specifically request it...

How hard is this to do?  Do we need to get 10 or more signatures on a petition somewhere?  What can we, the users, do to help make this happen?

A petition?  What kind of website do you think this is?

I don't think it counts if you quote yourself.

New information has come to my attention, and apparently xhonzi can quote himself after all.  Carry on.

So a general "Film Revisionism" forum? Something like that?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a general movie forum.?  Would there be enough traffic if it was narrowed to just revisionism?

RE: Discussion about other movies?

As Frink said- just a "Movies Besides Star Wars Discussion" forum.  So it's not part of the insanity of Off Topic.

RE: Discussion about other movies?

Maybe even a Film/Television forum, instead of just movies.

That would definitely help separate the insanity from the rational discussion.  A large portion (I'd say at least half) of the topics in off-topic are about either films or movies.

It could be put into the "General Chat" area.

And, "Film & Television" sounds good to me.

Why should the "good" topics have to be moved to a new forum? I would prefer to see a new (unmoderated) forum solely for moronathons.

This would have the advantage - if Jay ever gets round to implementing forum user permissions - that certain users could be temporarily "locked" into the moronathon forum, as an alternative sanction to a temporary ban.

RE: Discussion about other movies?

Right now there's this weird category, as Davnes referred to: "General Chat."

In General Chat there's only one sub-forum, the off-topic forum.  Why not create two sub-forums in General Chat, a Film/TV forum and a Moron Forum?

And I LOVE the idea of locking people into the moron forum, kind of like that glass prison thing from Superman.  Except all us other morons could also be in there to beat the shit out of them. ;-)

I just read this, I like the idea of having a more serious film/tv/game discussion apart from the Moronathon.
