Death Becomes Her and Dr. Giggles are guilty pleasures of mine, however neither movie has gotten much love on the home video market. I place the blame squarely on Universal for neglecting these two horror/comedies.
DBH on DVD in the U.S. is Fullscreen and muddy looking, but the U.K. has a rip from the WS LaserDisc much like the Star Wars Theatrical Editions. There is an HD copy somewhere because I saw it on Netflix instant two years ago.
Dr. Giggles is on Blu-ray, but the transfer is weak and not OAR. Somehow Warner Brothers acquired the rights for the film from Universal.
The current DVDs are not anamorphic or in their OAR and I own both on LaserDisc solely for that reasons.
I myself cannot do a preservation , would anyone be interested in helping me preserving these movies? I doubt they will get the a proper release anytime soon.

Laserdisc MasterI have three copies of the italian PAL laserdisc of "La Morte ti fà Bella" (Death Becomes Her), so probably a restoration could be done with good results.
I have also "Dr. Giggles", just one NTSC copy, I'm afraid... (^^,)
I'm waiting to know if there are better sources around, because I love DBH!

Didn't know Death Becomes Her didn't have a good DVD.
Which reminds me, Drop Dead Fred is only fullscreen in the US, also, and is currently on Netflix streaming. Haven't checked it yet to see if it's widescreen, but I'm betting it is.

That hardly looks HD, but awesome none-the-less.
...except that nobody will capture it ¬_¬ But at least I can watch it before they take it away.

Didn't people working on the NOTLD 90 restoration use a VUDU copy?

Oh no, I literally deleted a widescreen HD transmission of Drop Dead Fred just last night to make room. Had no idea there was no widescreen version released.

There might be a widescreen release, just not in the US.

Padawan LearnerI live in Australia (with that nasty TV format called PAL, hehe) and we did have a free-to-air broadcast (probably SD, maybe HD) of Death Becomes Her in 16:9 ratio and perfect quality with probably the TV channel's logo burned in. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this presentation before having a chance to set my STB timer, but I spent the rest of the running time enjoying this creative comedy with its obviously limited but still impressive CGI (kinda like Jurassic Park where nothing looks plastic etc, not even Meryll and Goldie post-mortem etc).
I'll do my best to record DBH or any other gems that grace our screens that are often a better quality than its DVD counterparts. Another movie called Men At Work has been doing the rounds of late, too.

Vudu's Death Becomes Her looks maybe a little better than the broadcast screens above, based on the 2-minute preview. If you want it I'll accept a donation...
It is also on my cable provider's VOD but the compression is MPEG-2. If you have access to it, there's a 12.71Mbps h264.

Jedi Knightdrngr...how do you do your Vudu captures?

For some reason I read the title as 'Darth Becomes Her'.
I'd pay to see that version.
For capture of online stuff, a HDCP stripper (some HDMI splitters do this) and a PS3 and a Blackmagic capture box/capture card and you are on your way :)

Right now I am using a BlackMagic HyperDeck Shuttle 2 with a 256GB SSD because I don't have a desktop PC. It supports 16-channel audio... and records extra space-wasting blank audio channels all the time if the source is less than that. Argh.
