RE: Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast

Looking back at the OP, I love how short-sighted the rumor mill is.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle -- aka Catwoman -- in Christopher Nolan's next Batman franchise installment The Dark Knight Rises, reports USA TODAY's Scott Bowles.

(Rumors had included Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, Naomi Watts and Katie Holmes for the role.)

Did they forget that Katie Holmes was already in the first film as another character?

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

Bane looks kinda sharp.

Frankly, comics-Bane almost looks like a parody of bad 90s design cliches.

Not a fan of the goggles.

I also wasn't a fan of Bane's Blade Runner jacket in the leaked set pics the other day...

Wow, I'm actually getting nervous about the quality of TDKR.  I didn't think that would happen after the first two.  I'm getting Spider-Man 3 and X-Men: The Last Stand vibes...

Maybe she just borrowed them from Bruce's toy box, like the ride.

I don't know what is worse Nolan's take on Catwoman or Superman, both images released around the same time.  Both awful.

Inception was absolute garbage too if not for the somewhat cool teaser trailer i would be worried for Nolan's third batman film.

Not as worried as Superman or Spider-man, but its something to watch to see if its a nice third times the charm fail of most film series.

The Supersuit is even more of an over-egged pie than the last one but that doesn't mean the film will be bad.

What's wrong with lycra these days?

Batman doesn't have to look like a Stormtrooper and Superman should have a physical presence because he just has one, not because he is dressed for sponge diving in the Cape Of Red Pants.

I wasn't very fond of the new Catwoman at first, but the longer I look at it, the more I like the look.

Isn't more Synder's take on Superman than Nolan's?

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

I hate the texture. It's like Martha Kent put the suit in her waffle iron before giving it to Clark.

Eww to the Supes over there, but I'd given up hope anyway. Superman is best left to being childhood memories of costumes, pajamas, and cartoons (with the occasional watching of the Christopher Reeve movie.)

^What, comics don't factor into the equation? ;-)

^Little sick of how often he's died, been rebooted (more this) and/or married Lois. Plus when I really loved Superman I was just learning to read.

edit: I just remembered that this is the forum where we complained about the Joker wearing make-up and not being bleached in Dark Knight before we saw the movie. Let's wait and see, I'm sure that the costumes won't make/break Dark Knight. Superman, on the other hand...

What happened to Batman wearing light materials that would tear under stress? To me that would be more interesting and realistic than a dude in body armor that happens to have pointy ears.

I just really hope that they don't try to shoehorn in elements of the Knightfall story arc. That needs to be its own full story.

And why does Catwoman have Batman's cycle?

As far as Supes goes, they'll never understand that the Fleischer serials are definitive.

I'm sorry, what? No love for Christopher Reeve? Certainly the serials are fun, but I would never call them definitive.

Christopher Reeve made the perfect Superman but those films are full of hokey, bad humor, lousy effects, and Gene Hackman was a terrible Lex. If not for Reeve, I think those films wouldn't be remembered nearly as fondly.

they weren't bad effects, for the time.    Gene Hackman wasn't that bad, I thought he was good in the first movie.   Also, don't forget John Williams contribution to the Superman films.

This. Hell, Hackman's Lex is the worst version of Lex ever in any of the Superman-related media. He's like some bastardized hybrid clone of the Mad Scientist Lex and the Corrupt Businessman Lex with the charm of neither.

Have you Hackman-haters seen Jelio's and L8wrtr's combo edit of Supes I and II? Way less Lex...
