Tauntaun herder-Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader1.Not a fan of the title. Rise has indeed been overused.
2.Anne might be able to pull off Catwoman but it will be a challenge.
3.I enjoy the first Apes and Conquest, especially with the original ending. Beneath and Escape aren't bad either. Battle is atrocious. We don't really need another reboot attempt.
4.I have not seen and don't care to see Inception. There. I outed myself. Happy? (Although I will probably see it during my Oscar prep...so I guess I lose)

No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

for once, I completely agree with Anchorhead. The original is a classic with one of the greatest endings in movie history. The others come nowhere near close to the original. Of the others, the third is my favorite. I am not sure which versions of Conquest and Battle I've seen. It is whatever versions were on the original DVD release. I need to get this series on Blu-Ray.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming... Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Hand Of JudgmentWhen I was a kid, there was this event on TV one time called Go Ape. I think it was all the films as a marathon. It's fairly common to do that sort of a thing now, but back when there were only five TV channels and they went off the air at midnight, it was a big deal.
-edit-
I was wrong, it wasn't on TV, it was at the theaters. The TV marathon was only the first three films. I found an article about it;
The spur for finally starting production of a TV show was in September 1973, when the CBS network bought the television broadcast rights to the first three Planet of the Apes films for $1 million and showed them in a row on prime time screens. The broadcast registered a 33.6 Nielsen rating and a 57 per cent share of the audience to capture the number one spot in the ratings race for that week, and the highest ratings in history for a sci-fi series up to that time. In response, CBS soon aired the movies again in its 'Friday Night Movie' slot, while 20th Century Fox began showing all five Apes films in back-to-back six-hour "Go Ape!" marathons in movie theatres in the first half of 1974.

Wait...
1. You completely agree with Anchorhead.
2. Anchorsaid "1968 original only for me."
3. You said. "I need to get this series on Blu-Ray."
In what way did you for once completely agree with Anchorhead? That he only avowed the existance of the 1968 original or that you do? If the former, than I also completely agree with Anchorhead. For once.
As long as he's seen Inception.

South Jersey DevilI do not believe that thinking the original is best, means you can not buy the whole series on blu ray.
btw, I am not sure I want the whole series on blu ray anymore. After doing some research, I just realized that the blu ray of Battle is not the original theatrical release. It is fine to do a director's cut of the movie, but they should have included the original theatrical cut with it on the blu ray. I have to think about whether I'll spend my money on it.

aka PancakesConquest (particularly the newly-released-on-Blu-Ray extended cut) is enough for me to begrudgingly acknowledge the existence of Beneath and Escape. The original is still far superior to any of the others, though.
And Battle never happened. Doesn't exist. LALALALALALALALA.

South Jersey Devilso the Conquest Blu ray is also an extended cut? I thought there was just an alternate ended and and that on the blu ray you a choice of which to watch?

aka PancakesThe Conquest Blu-Ray has both the PG-rated theatrical cut, and an "unrated" extended cut, which has the alternate ending, much more blood and violence during the "uprising" scenes, and the proper score during said scenes (as, when they had to cut the violence, they had to scrap the score and track the main theme throughout the battle).
The ending is better, mainly because it leads into the original Planet of the Apes better and makes Battle redundant and unnecessary (which is good, because Battle is a terrible movie).
