Batman isn't a detective.  Batman's a scientist.

The unfortunate thing is if the went with a Batman movie starring JGL (which we all know they won't), it would make perfect sense if it was more detective oriented.

Question for those that have the score/soundtrack - which track has the music from the chase sequence when Batman first "comes out of retirement"?  The scene where the old cop says to the rookie "You're in for a show tonight" or something to that effect.

My outlook on life - we're all on the Hindenburg anyway...no point fighting over the window seat.

... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

RE: Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast

Went to see The Dark Knight Rises again Sunday.  It's official, it's my favorite of the three.  Batman Begins is a very close second, but Hathaway, Levitt, and overall depth of story push this one to the top.  Hathaway's Kyle puts it out of reach.

I also gave The Dark Knight a second look and was much more ok with it than before.  I still grew tired of Joker after a while, but I wasn't watching the clock like I was a couple of years ago.  I found the hospital scene to be my limit for Joker & Dent (Joker dressed as a nurse, Dent fully revealed).  It just doesn't work for me.  Too much of both by that point.

I'm more than fine with TDKR and Begins as my go-tos (watched Begins last night, in fact), with an occasional side of TDK.  That's a very hefty Batman trilogy\personal canon.  I have no desire to see it continued.

I follow these guys' comedy skits on Youtube and they do a pretty mean Bane impersonation:

"You think this gives you power over me?"

Their Bane impressions had one problem: I could understand them. ;-)

You guys know that HISHE did two videos on this movie already?  I haven't actually watched it because I went to their site just to see if they'd already done it, but I didn't have sound at the time.  It took them over a year to do TDK, I think, so this was much quicker.

This poster is pretty cool, it's been used in the upcoming trilogy packs, maybe it'll be the cover. Will wait for the deluxe trilogy next year, though.

Saw it again a few days ago.  No two ways about it - for me, it's the best Batman film there is, by far.  Come on Dec 4th.

I'm going against the grain again I notice as I thought it was a little bit more silly than the first one.

Not as bad as Prometheus but nothing to really write home about either, sort of Batman Returns Of A Jedi.

RE: Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast

Just watched this for the first time since the theater.  I have to say I liked it even better this time.  I'm a big fan of watching films with subtitles, so I picked up a lot better on many of the subtleties of the plot.  Understanding it better made for a better story.  The first time I loved it as a thrill ride that I only was able to follow fairly well.  This time it was much clearer and Bane's motives made much more sense to me.  The whole OWS stuff was merely an opportunity to further torture Gotham and not anything he believed in at all.  Many of the themes were interesting, and sort of countered the themes of the previous film.  While TDK showed us the grey area of the necessity of living and believing a lie, TDKR showed us the ultimate damage that can come from that lie.  While BB taught Batman to face and conquer his fear, TDKR required him to thrive in it and be motivated by it.  And obviously, the overarching theme of overcoming all odds and rising returns.  I understand that it's not a film for everyone, but gosh I really enjoy it, and much of the criticism leveled against it still sounds rather picky to me, rather than rational and based on the same standards held for other films.  I really love this movie, and I find the whole trilogy to be a successful series!
