Hey, I have no problem with anyone calling me out on it.  I know that mistakes will be made when typing in a forum.  I only added that silliness to my title two days ago because I was teasing a couple of other members here.  Sure, I try to get it right, but if I screw up, I really don't care, nor do I care when others do either.  It was all in good fun.  Call me out on it whenever you like, but in the meantime, I better probably change my little title there :)

The Dark Knight trailer and prologue come out this week.  I'm very excited, though I'll of course be seeing on the internet somewhere rather than in the theater (not a fan of the MI films, unlike the '60s show which I still enjoy).  In case you guys didn't know, I'm a big Batman fan.

The transcript helps, but though I couldn't wait to watch this, I have a feeling I'll still enjoy this scene as much as ever when I see it in the theater.

The quite public trailer seems great as well.  I have a feeling I will see one of the most successful trilogies in history, with each film succeeding its predecessor in greatness.  At least I hope that's the case.  I really love these movies.

This movie is going to rock, no doubt. Nolan is very talented and has a good sense of storytelling. I think TDKR will give us possibly the first satisfying conclusion to a superhero saga in a quite awhile.

So many trilogies seem to end with disappointment. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Return of the King, and The Bourne Ultimatum are a couple of strong finishes I can think of. I still think ROTJ, despite its flaws, is a very solid movie but I know there are people who don't like it.

Godfather 3, Spider-Man 3, The Matrix Revolutions, X-Men 3, and others left people disappointed. If you look purely at the superhero genre, there hasn't been a single well-concluded trilogy. TDKR will give us that and hopefully culminate the superhero era which I have enjoyed but has long run its course.

On the other hand, The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man look terrible. Man of Steel could be interesting with Nolan producing.

Should have given those other trilogies more credit, as I agree with your assessments of all four mentioned strong finales.  But I really imagine this movie to be simply incredible.  I have never been disappointed by Nolan, and I don't believe this will be a first.  As you say, he has a knack for good storytelling, not letting the "more is better" syndrome interfere with simply telling a good tale.

And I agree with your take of the new Supes movie as well.  It'll be nice to see how his producing it will guide the film.

Nolan is one of the next generation of directors that I actually like. When I see his films come out, I try to avoid all trailers, posters, etc because I don't need to be convinced and I want to walk into the film with no idea of the plot twists that are so often given away in trailers (why they do this is beyond me). I do a similar thing with Darren Aronofsky.

It makes me excited that we are seeing the rise of these directorys (yes I realize that neither of the above directors are that new) because for a long time I thought, "man, when Martin Scorsese dies we are fucked!"

I will say that I am not excited about Anne Hathaway being in this film. Sure I'd throw it in her, but I'm not impressed with her acting OR her choice in movies to perform in (stay away from Jake Gyllenhaal, he is acting kryptonite).

I really shouldn't question Nolan's decisions though. Once upon a time, I thought Heath Ledger playing the Joker was the worst idea ever. :)

Mmmmhhh, well producers have a very wide range on a film's making, and it's almost impossible to truly decipher how much influence they have on the finished product; can't say too much about Nolan's producing job on this.

With that said, Zach Snyder directing - in my opinion - will make for a movie that is fifty percent slow-motion, with overused high-contrast cinematography, and shots all taken from existing comic book panels. In other words, from what the man has done before, it sounds like a hacky-hack movie of modern cinematic cheese.

But Dark Knight Rises looks pretty exciting, despite Hathaway being in it. One of my favorite things about this movie is the fact that the studios are actually okay with it being the final film in this (for lack of a better term) "Nolan Trilogy". That just gives it so much more gravitas, and could very well bring out the best in their efforts to make it an actually good movie especially on the heels of "The Dark Knight"

Regardless, though, The Dough Dark Knight Rises will probably still be a far better film than anything connected to those overrated CG turds Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor.

YES!! Every single one of his films I've seen is disconnected from its own story. I agree with all of his filmmaking theories and commitment to quality films, but so far the only one I actually enjoyed to a degree was Batman Begins. And even then the novelization was much better.

It just felt darned empty. I felt like I was reading an interesting Batman graphic novel that was highly acclaimed but sorely lacking in a well defined story arc, and just got too convoluted for its own good. Add in the overlong run time, messy editing, weird color scheme and "HOCKEY PADS" and I guess that about sums it up for me. It's not a bad film, just not the great movie everyone claims it to be.

I'm going to revisit it tonight anyway and see what I think all this time later. And I still haven't seen Inception, which of course will get me ignored by some people...

Well, I certainly disagree with these negative assessments in most respects, but I have to agree on one point: The Dark Knight did not have a clear direction and felt unnecessarily chaotic (yes, I understand that the Joker is an agent of chaos and all).  I honestly enjoyed Batman Begins significantly better, though I still enjoyed The Dark Knight.  I personally enjoy Nolan's style and the stories he directs, and I doubt I will be disappointed this third time around.

Instead of stating your opinion as fact maybe you should elaborate as to the depth you see where he does not.

I saw depth in the story myself but it often ended up seemingly convoluted and unnecessary.  This is an odd thing to say, but many of the shots looked like they were closing ones for the film - ie essentially most times they did that pan into the Wayne penthouse, I thought "is it finally over?"  It's tough to explain, I'm not really a film person.  But there were SO many moments where the movie felt like it was supposed to end.  And I'm sure it was intentional and meant to help the drama, but to me, it just made the film drag.

That said I'm excited for Rises.
