Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityI think that'd be news to them. Starting a new ongoing "Star Wars #1" series a couple months before you lose the license seems silly. Unless they just want to put out all they can before it's too late.skyjedi2005 said:
How come Entertainment weekly is saying this is Dark horse's swan song for star wars comics, are they just guessing Disney is going shut them down soon, or jumping the gun?

See You, Space Cowboy...Frankly, at this point I think it's anyone's guess. I can see Disney letting Dark Horse's license lapse so they can give it to Marvel...

Just another officer transported to MarsMore info, plus a new Tavoularis storyboard (those are my favorite, almost up there with McQuarrie's work).

Padawan LearnerSeptember, according to this. The artwork is really great. (The interview reminded me of reason 37G I liked the Sebastian Shaw Anakin ghost better-the 2 old jedi invoked the image of Starkiller and General Skywalker)

It would be more interesting to make a comic of the proper treatment though. Or Leigh Brackett's first draft of Empire. There is some amazing stuff in that one that just begs to be brought to life.
I would throw a kitten in a blender for that comic.
Pft. You were going to do that anyways.
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Padawan LearnerMy first ever digital comic, it's pretty cool, like a more emotional, melodramatic version of PHANTOM MENACE.

Once upon a time there was a Star Wars trilogy. Now there is apocrypha.I just picked this up today, the first comic I've ever actually bought.
There's a lot of political discussion and a lot of characters and names all at once, but the underlying story is clear and has heart at this point.
One small thing that threw me: The lightsabers look like the ones from the film. I would have expected the artists to use the prototype lightsabers, the ones with flashbulb reflectors as hilts, that they were going to use on the film before the hilts were nixed. Would have been a neat throwback.

While that is undoubtedly a cool idea, I don't know if Lucas actually intended lightsaber hilts to be so cumbersome--I would imagine that was more likely an artistic decision coming from tech limitations (i.e., having the lightsaber effects produced in-camera), as well as Ralph McQuarrie's art (from the second draft onward). Whereas the first draft was very very blue-sky in its approach (and had all-red sabers vs. the all-white ones used in filming ANH--another indicator that the visual design changed repeatedly).
