Dang! That's awesome but I always had a dream of someday turning one of those early scripts into an animated feature. Of course I'd first have to learn  how to animate.....and draw. =P Anyway, this further proves they need to keep Star Wars with Dark Horse.

I like how people around the internet are complaining about how Dark Horse is now milking the franchise.  I guess they want yet another story of Jedi's fighting Sith?  Blagh.

Presumably, George and or Lucasfilm is making his early story material available to Dark Horse, so why would anyone be bitching about this project?

As with Splinter of the Mind's Eye, this is a glimpse into the Star Wars that might have been.

Ditto.

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

It looks fantastic. Aside from more of McQuarrie's early work on Star wars, I've always wanted to see more of Tavoularis' work. And hey, the 'Pirate Ship'!

I love that Rinzler is adapting it. If anyone is going to make sure it's true to the draft, its him.

They announced it yesterday, Rinzler is still talking about it, I'm pretty sure it's true. It's a new way to milk the franchise without redoing things, so that's good.

This looks like one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I've wanted to know what that story would've looked like for practically all my life (I know that sounds a little ridiculous).

I always wanted to see a Star Wars story that looked more like a Ralph McQuarrie painting, what with the sparse, open expanses and the stark, "alien" atmosphere. It looks like this may be the closest we get.

In the case of what was put on screen in 77, it seemed to me that Star Wars was just too "well done" to be real, if that makes any sense. No story, even in Hollywood, was ever that perfect in so many ways. It makes you think that it was itself a remake of a single, pretty good movie instead of a unique entity, and that we can now get a glimpse of this "merely good" movie.

Probably making no sense.

Ah, well...

This is actually something I've wanted to see the EU do for sometime now. I only hope they follow the original script as closely as possible and give the heroes RED lightsabers.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

This is an definite must-have.  I also dig that it's soon to be published proof that Lucas' ongoing chant about his Original Vision has always been a lie. We've known about the true original story for decades.  It will be nice to see it brought to life.

They could have done it as a film way back when but it was way too much a ripoff of Hidden Fortress.

Kurosawa as a director was on an entirely different plain as a director than the hack Lucas was/ is.

Oh REALLY?  Because the 1974 draft the comic is based on bears no resemblance to Hidden Fortress.

Why do you even other coming to a SW message board, Sky?  I've never seen a post from you that was anything but entirely negative towards everything Star Wars (and usually contains incorrect information).  It's exhausting.
