Color correction for dummies

What is the currently best (or recommended) software for doing color correction of mpg2 files ? I bought Vegas ONLY for this and it looks like it can't import m2v files :-(

Just remux the m2v to a mpeg2 file. I use tmpeg to do this and Vegas can then import it

So the only problem is that it's just an elementary stream and Vegas supports just program streams ? That's a little shock for me :-) Thanks, I'll try it
