I just found a guy close to me that wants to sell his Pioneer HLD-X9 LD player. I'd like to buy it if the price is right. What would y'all consider a fair price for an X9 in good working condition?
I primarily plan on just playing my LDs, but if I can wrangle up some video capture equipment, I'd certainly help with LD captures for the community.

I am ready for the trials! The only real barometer is what they go for on ebay, (when one actually shows up) and the prices from one of the few LD vendors who specialize in selling them.

This is the same fellow who sold me the Japanese THX-1138 laserdisc. I inquired about possibly getting my hands on an X0, and sticker shock ensued. ;)

THC-1138 meets TK-420About two months ago at another website I frequent there's a fellow who had a chance to buy an HLD-X0 from a consignment shop in Hong Kong where he lives.
Asking price was US$1700. The guy already has a nice Japan-only model (LD-X1 if I recall) so he passed.
However he did purchase the Faroudja scaler from the same seller. I seem to recall Laserman telling us a high-end player through a scaler like that might lead to incontinence!
However, in practice you must take into account the "fuckwit factor". Just talk to Darth Mallwalker...
