that doesn't mean it wasn't a french Jew.    There is always a first time.

Which is why I guess Al Qaeda was responsible.

White American gun-owners should be afraid of other white American gun-owners. You are more likely to be shot by the paranoid guy who has been insanely given a gun for no reason than you are by the immigrant down the street working two jobs trying to raise his kids. History has shown this to be a fact.

not sure what this has to do with the attack on the Boston Marathon, which was not done with guns.

Where the friggin' hell is all of this "Christian American" hate BS coming from?  Stereotyping Christians into having the ability to do this while defending Muslims displays the VERY DEFINITION OF HYPOCRITE!!!!

For what it's worth, the Pakistan franchise of the Taliban claims they are not involved with this bombing. Since they've claimed credit for bombings in the past, there is an air of truth to the statement.

True, but in American discourse, Islam is intrisniscally tied up with Arab relations.

There are also Arab Christians. And white or black Muslims. The Christmas bomber was African.

In response to all, but particularly zombie:

I think it was unnecessary to jump all over Warbler. If we're talking about looking at historical trends, why is it racist for him to accuse Al Qaeda? I believe it is premature based on insufficient evidence, but it's certainly not racist. Al Qaeda is a terrorist group, not a religion, not a race. Several plots of theirs have been attempted since 9/11, and nearly all of them have been bombings, not mass shootings. I agree, Warbler is jumping the gun, but he certainly displayed no racism in doing so. He followed a historical trend.

Meanwhile, the home grown terrorism everyone is referring to has not been terrorist in nature. Terrorism is political, designed to evoke fear in enemies and political change as a result. Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, Lancaster...all of these were motivated not by a political agenda, not to effect change, but out of mental instability and/or anger. Even shooting Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was not a matter of terrorism because there was no political ideology Loughner was pushing, but he simply had disagreements with Gabby and wanted to kill a bunch of people because he was unstable. And for what it's worth, he was very liberal.

Would it have been anti-Irish or anti-Catholic for the Brits to jump to the conclusion that a bombing in Manchester in 1996 was committed by the IRA? Give Warbler a break.

Warbler, you probably missed my defense of your statement because you posted immediately after I did. You were not racist, and it's ridiculous to think you were. But I also wanted to respond to your rant against FanFiltration:

It's a legitimate inquiry if you were caught up in this and it seemed someone knew something before hand wouldn't you ask questions?

I am sorry about the rant, but people like FanFiltration really piss me off.   People like him look at these tragedies as a opportunity to play their stupid conspiracy games.   Talk about me jumping the gun!  He has no proof of anything and he makes a stupid video that is obviously a voice over.   Perhaps the voice used was FanFiltration's own.    He doesn't give damn about this tragedy or anyone or any entity he falsely accuses.   It pisses me off.

That question was asked during the news conference. The other voice you hear is someone watching the news on the TV as the person is recording it from the TV, but you can hear the reporter ask the question.  It is a legitimate thing to post. Nowhere did Fanfiltration claim he made this video or that he thinks that the accusations are true. Just posting something that was widely seen on the news. You do like to jump down peoples throats without knowing what the hell you are talking about.

As things are unfolding it is unfortunate that it seems more likely that this was more likely a home grown attack as no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. There are some real sick individuals out there.

I think reporter was voice over as well.    How about a video actually showing some one telling the people to stay calm before the explosions?

Technically speaking, there isn't even such a thing as race. It's a 19th century fantasy, basically. Most people don't even know that but I think everyone knows what I meant.

Personally, my point is that there really isn't any reason to begin with the assumption that Al Queda or another Muslim terrorist organization has anything to do with it. It's not an unreasonable assumption of course--it's not like someone is saying the Nazi's are responsible for it, which would be legitimately silly--but frankly I'm tiring of Islamophobia, and automatically pointing the finger at "middle eastern terrorists" comes across that way Warbler, so no offense personally. Middle eastern terrorists have almost never harmed Americans on American soil compared to fellow Americans doing terrible things like shooting up schools and military bases, so I don't know why people continue to automatically assume it's the handiwork of people from the middle east when there is no evidence to suggest as much and documented history that would more likely lead one to believe it's a fellow citizen. Every time something bad happens people blame "terrorists", which they really mean middle easterners since that is who they are picturing when they say that word, but almost every single time that turns out to not be the case.

RE: Boston Marathon Explosion(s)

I agree, Islamophobia is a stupid thing, and it saddens me that people do tend to jump to those conclusions. I too can't help but feel like it might have been a Middle Eastern terrorist. But my reasons aren't simply because someone is Middle Eastern. It's more because terrorist groups based in the Middle East seem to have the biggest gripe with the US and make the most concerted efforts to attack us on our own soil. North Korea, for instance, wouldn't try something like this. Sendero Luminoso in Peru probably have their own agenda that doesn't really involve attacking the US.

But again, I don't think it's wise to immediately jump on the Al Qaeda bandwagon. But I assure you that there are non-racist folks in the FBI that are indeed investigating Middle Eastern terrorist ties to see if that is where this attack came from.

It saddens me that a Saudi man was tackled for looking suspicious, as he sounds like he probably was innocent. I have a feeling that some bystander succumbed to the assumption that a Middle Eastern terrorist did this.

All this said, I am now starting to lean towards a more likely domestic attack as well. But at the end of the day, I hope justice is done, that those who are guilty pay for what they've done. I don't care if they are black, white, brown, or green with bulbous eyes and suction-cupped fingertips. I want them to pay.
