I read one of the sequel books.

Meh.

Wasn't Total Recall 2070 already a sort of indirect sequel to the first film, evoking much of the look of the movie and some of the missing elements from DADOES?

I bought what was on DVD a number of years back.

As a fan of both Total Recall and Blade Runner, I found the show to be not worth my time.

Just a warning from one fan to another.

The only BR "sequel/spinoff" etc. I ever thought was worth it was the Westwood game circa 1997.

I've been kinda thinking I should replay it.  But I'm afraid it will damage my memories.

That game was awesome.

Perhaps the operative word is "was".  :(

I replayed it a few years back. Still stands up well IMHO. But I'm also a huge adventure game mark.

I tried the sequal novels... too wierd. Livin' on Mars, making a movie of the story of Blade Runner, Roy Battie is a suitcase... gave me a headache.

^ Oh, that's a prequel? I thought it was just a graphic novel adaption of the book. I might have to pick those up now.

Damn. I hope this doesn't materialize.

Unless it has direct involvement from Ridley Scott or newcomer Duncan Jones(the only person besides Ridley who could pull this off), this is going to be awful.

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

I'm pretty indifferent to Blade Runner, so if they go through with this - well - it wouldn't really bother me.

That being said, Hollywood is a creativity-draining, art-killing black hole in the fabric of the movie industry, and somebody's got to empty some proton torpedoes into it.

WTF!

New rule, let's ban the word "Prequel". Especially when it's said in reference to a Ridley Scott film. Every time I hear about the Alien Prequel, I cringe a bit more and now this. Give me one good reason to make another Blade Runner film?

Also, maybe a question for another thread but can anyone name a decent prequel film?

I think we already did that in another thread... didn't we?  Because it led to an argument (which I won, if I recall) about Godfather II.

Hulu has all 22 episodes of "Total Recall 2070" for free online viewing.

For a while Rid was supposed to do a BR sequel/prequel but that fell through. I really hope this doesn't come to pass because it will just be set in the universe using some reference points and making all BR fans enraged.

Did find both Jeter book sequels a few years ago but simply couldn't get through them. Very out there.

Well, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is considered a prequel to the other two films in the Dollars trilogy ...

Then there is Temple of Doom, though I know alot of fans have mixed feelings about the movie ...

Both are prequals only in the loosest sense and if you squint a bit.

The Good Bad Ugly is a prequal only because Blondie gets his poncho in it, if we even accept that Eastwood is the same character in each film.

Temple of Doom is also only a prequal in that the date at the start of it is earlier than the date at the start of Raiders.

So if these are indeed prequals, they stand as the only prequals worth a damn because prequals all suck and these films aren't prequals in any meaningful ways.
