Not sure anyone cares besides Wook, None and Monroville BUT we did succeed in getting the rest of the movie uploaded. You Tube has blocked it worldwide but it can be found here:

Thanks for the update.

Is there an E.T.A. for a finished disc yet?

I still wish Yoda and the Emperor sounded more like their original selves (and will play with adding an alternative audio track, if I can get Red Letter Media to respond)... but that "Do Not Want!" is fantastic!  I like how you blended it in with the original "Noooo!" too.

OMG, that is so unbelievably hilarious. Any chance of releasing this as a simple audio track that I could mux with any video I choose?

Sure Harmy it should be fairly easy to put together and let you guys know when it's done. Still going to try to get it on You Tube but the Empire seems to really be Striking Back in that regard. Sorry it's taken so long to post everything, it really hasn't been the best fall season for me, but I'm glad it's done.

Yeah Monroville do let me know if you hear from the Red Letter Media people, their Star Wars reviews are HILARIOUS and the emperor impression is damn good. Been getting way into those.

Don't know if it actually works, but I've seen some videos posted where the footage is mirror reversed to avoid detection.

I can concur.  Someone posted the entire ZOMBIELAND just by flipping the video image.

I never understood why people do that.

Surely it's not some sort of secret magical legal loophole.

No, it just avoids automatic detection.

Is there any chance on getting the audio for the entire movie in one segment (so one can edit it/ mux it with a video file of EPISODE 3)?

TheThirdGathers hasn't been around here in months, so I hope he's okay.

RE: Backstroke of the West Dubbed Version

Hey. I'm OK! Thanks.

As always I'm really busy these days but still hoping to paste the whole movie together into one big movie, also if I can do it correctly get a "best of" clip on You Tube- maybe that won't be taken down? There's quite a few people I'd like to send a DVD to if that day ever comes. The classic problem has always been that there's never been a steady visual to sync it up to- visual always has problems in the editing program- so there's nothing reliable. Won't stop me from trying (if I ever get a spare moment.)

I also need to re-link Scene 24 from You Tube, I chose a more synced up version and privatized the one that was linked.

I'll let you know my progress on this. Yeah, the original DVD still exists, not that I have the slightest idea how to reproduce it but the cover and everything could probably be photocopied.

This fantastic work has recently come to attention. To its creator, who may be reading this ;) well done.

If you have the dvd in your possession, couldn't you or your friend just rip it to an iso file and upload it somewhere rather than joining the audio all together from youtube clips? Or have I missed something really obvious?

the original bootleg dvd has crc errors so a direct copy is impossible, some clips were ripped from the bootleg and others were audio only synced up to the dvd

RE: Backstroke of the West Dubbed Version

I discovered TheThirdGathers' project on youtube and vimeo several weeks ago.  I'm glad I found this forum, because I wanted to express my gratitude for many the many hours of entertainment this dub has given me.  The original movie was okay for one viewing...but somehow I never get tired of the oddly idiomatic poetry and enthusiastic voice acting of this new release.

I have experience in video encoding and muxing, and I have Premiere and other authoring tools--although I'm not an expert in editing.  I'd be glad to help out if I can, though.  Is there an unbroken master audio track for the dubs?  If so, couldn't that be synced to a clean MPEG source from any ROTS DVD?

RE: Backstroke of the West Dubbed Version

If this could be released in the form of an audio stream synced to the official DVD video, I'd be a happy panda bear indeed!

Then it would be a simple matter of remuxing the video of the retail DVD with the Backstroke audio and subtitles and I'd be in ridiculousness heaven!

Which reminds me that I need to step up my efforts to obtain a Malaysian ROTJ bootleg with similarly odd subtitles from a person that I made a copy for. (since my original was stolen... grr....)

RE: Backstroke of the West Dubbed Version

Today I called and left a message for the guy that I copied ROTJ for. Hopefully he'll get back to me and still has the disc. My original is in Chicago somewhere and I've given up on ever seeing it again.

Fans of 'Backstroke' I'm sure would appreciate the epic struggle of Admiral Edbaby and his fleet against the forces of the empress, high above the Fire Moon. If I get ahold of it again, I'll be sure to make a thread here and pass it on.

Backstroke of the Hopeless Situation Warrior? I'm intrigued!

RE: Backstroke of the West Dubbed Version

I don't want to derail this thread anymore, but just a heads up that the guy I copied Jedi for years and years ago still has it and is going to send it to me shortly. I'll make a dedicated thread once I have it in my hands and find a proper title for it. I don't remember if it's quite as mangled as Backstroke, but it was very amusing. Too bad it's just subtitles though and not dubbed :)

I can't wait to see Backstroke of the West in all its auditory glory. The clips I checked out on youtube were epic! The voices were all so spot on, except of course Yoda and Palpatine which I thought gave it just the right edge of absurdity. Kudos to whatever mad Asian overlords were responsible for this!
