I'm not saying if you choose to live here then it's paramount you conform to 'western' dress codes? Not for one minute. The hijab is fine. The face s fully presented. The Burka is not fine. These women that either choose to wear it, or are forced by their husbands to, are either sticking 2 fingers up to their adoptive community or are being controlled and demeaned by their spouses. They should also investigate what prompted them to do such things. Usually the media produce one-sided news. Not because they would be biased but simply because it make the news more striking and sensational.

After a little research it seems the flash points for violence were a murder in a gold shop and a woman being doused in petrol and set alight. Both perpetrators were Muslim.
