The Cage is one of my all time favorite things Star Trek, and definitely my favorite episode of TOS.

Most reviews have been positive, but these two aren't so. Beware heavy spoilers.

Have you tried out the holodeck yet? ;)

I need to reinstall EF one of these days. I want to play the Captain Proton mod in glorious black and white again.

Haha, I forgot about the Captain Proton campaign in the expansion. That was a really fun bonus.

Did you ever play Elite Force II, SilverWook? It came out during a period where I had lost interest in/didn't have time for games, I did eventually play a few levels in, but never any further.

I liked that it took place on the Enterprise E in a post Nemesis storyline and featured Patrick Stewart. Maybe I need to get my hands on a copy... I still have my original Elite Force and expansion somewhere too.

I played both games but EF2 never really engaged me like the first one did.

I know that I used to watch the original series back in the early 90's, back when I was in kindergarten, but I have no memories of any of the episodes I watched. The only thing I can recall are the end credits, and that's only due to this guy.

Sonovabitch creeped me out everytime his face popped up at the end.

You haven't seen creepy till you've seen the actual episode with Child Actor Clint Howard. *shiver*

"Corbomite Manuever", it's actually one of my favorite episodes.

I'll second that.  He's always been a...hmmm...less pleasant looking fellow.

So I got a few books.  My dad's missing several of his :( but he loaned what he had and I got a few others from the library used book store, including Log 1.  I've been taking my time finishing up ROTJ, but I should be starting one of these books soon.

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

That used to freak the hell out of me as a kid. I used to like to listen to the end credits music right to the very end, but I would close my eyes before he would appear as he would scare the shit out of me.

Going to echo those sentiments here.  Scared me as late as 12... but only the first time he popped up.  I'm pretty sure knowing this first prepared me, though:

I hope that's a joke.

Anyway, Elite Force remains one the best action oriented Trek games I've ever played. The expansion pack adds the ability to simply wander the decks of the U.S.S. Voyager and have some holodeck fun as well.

Some talented fans created amazing mods for the game. My favorite one let you explore a TOS era starbase, and the ships being serviced there. The levels were so large, you could spend a couple weeks exploring it all.

I have been playing Elite Force again and have been playing this very mod for the past couple of days. It's amazing.

Have you tried out the holodeck yet? ;)

I need to reinstall EF one of these days. I want to play the Captain Proton mod in glorious black and white again.

I have indeed tried the holodeck, as well as found some familar Supermarionation easter eggs at the docks up in space. This whoel thing is huge! I've also installed some mods called Virtual Dreadnought and The Argus Effect. The virtual dreadnought mod is an off shoot of the Starbase 11 mod that we've been talking about, except that unlike there where the people stood like statues whilst you wandered around, they move around the ship and you can interact with them. There's also stuff to collect, and Harry Mudd is there to make a cameo!

The Argus Effect was meant to be part of a whole 'Season 4' mod based on the original series. Sadly only the Teaser and first Act were completed (there were meant to be four acts in the episode) so the story stops. You get to play as Captain Kirk (Shatner, not Pine) and discover to your horror that everyone on the ship is dead! You have to figure out what happened. It's great fun, even if it ends on a never to be completed cliffhanger. :(

The thing that bugs me about the Captain Proton mod is that the HUD is still in colour. There's probably a way for me to change it, but it still bugs me.

Elite Force 2 is no-where near as good as Elite Force 1, but it's still a fun game. Tuvok and Captain Picard are in it, which is cool, despite Patrick Stewart giving a very monotone line reading. There's no zing to his line reading when it's obvious there really should be. Had that been there, it would've elevated it higher.

I just remembered: My second-favorite Star Trek TNG episode is "The Inner Light".

I always felt Kirk was a bit too trusting with that drink.  I mean, Balok's glass was already pored when it came out of the thingamabob, but Kirk and company had to have theirs poured from the punch bowl.  Oh, and Baily was also a bit too quick to volunteer to be left alone with little Balok. And that pervert grin Baily had on his face when he jumped at the chance to stay, and also the way the camera zoomed in on him! Yep, that episode was a bit creepy.

When I first saw that episode as a kid I remembered thinking how much creepier actual Balok was than his alien view screen decoy, and wondered why he even bothered with it at all.
