What about Enterprise?

             A new series that takes the best about TOS and ST09 and sets it in the ST09 timeline might be fun. ST:RECYCLED. Shamelessly take FX and sets and props from the new movies and have a new crew set off on their own while newKirk and the others do their thing.  Shamelessly take story concepts from TNG, VOY, DS9, and ENT and rewrite and reset the best of them. Maybe ppv to keep up production values. Could make it generally understood from the outset that the purpose is to provide a new take on the better concepts and concentrate everything on script and story.

Speaking of them, check out their stuff. They're a band out of Indianapolis that is doing one song based on each episode of Star Trek. It's not a parody band or anything, they're well-written songs covering a variety of genres. Check out Arena and The Naked Time, they're two of my favorites.

Yes, I actually linked to it in my first post ;)  Thanks though.  I have downloaded their episodes, but I've been so busy that I haven't had time to watch them.  I understand that they may not be the best quality, but I still think it would fun to see the original ship and crew continuing their adventures.

I admit it has its faults, but I think it has a real TOS feel to it.  Had the effects been better and some aspects of the story not so super cheesy, much of it was exactly what the original Trek was about, IMO.

Oh, I wish I could see it. Today is my last day at this job, so I'm going to be at the office wrapping things up for several hours. I'd really love to see this, as it rivals any of the TNG films in my mind.

I've decided to swear off the TNG screenings. The last one I went to was terrible. So while I love the idea of watching TNG on the big screen, my local AMC (bleh!) doesn't appear to be up to the challenge.

I've been developing a desire to read some Trek novels.  I think they're awesome in that they are not canonical, but you can take them as such if you want.  They're not all obligatory parts of the whole story like Star Wars, and I find that liberating.  I've been thinking of the aforementioned Star Trek: The Lost Years and its sequels (not to be confused with Trek: The Lost Years ;) ), Probe, and Vendetta for starters.  Anyone have any recommendations? 

I'm unfamiliar with that title.  Is that in the TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, or ENT setting?

BTW, just talking about The Best of Both Worlds has really gotten me in the mood to experience some Borg.  I'm going to have to pull out my Borg Collective collection and watch a few episodes, topping it off with First Contact.  I don't enjoy the Voyager ones as much because they really sissy-fied the Borg.

Yeah I have a bunch of ADF's ST Log books. They were reprinted in 3-book collections in the 1990s, which initially bored me to tears as a ten year old but I have come to enjoy now that I'm older. I have so, so many ADF movie tie-in novels, but they are all so well done. His novelization of Alien is pretty incredible, and his adaptation of The Dig video game was one of the best novels I read as a kid.

You know, even if the Log books are not in print, my dad has several of them and he doesn't live too far.  I remember seeing them growing up, but I never took the time to read them.  Maybe next time I'm over there, I can check if he still has them (I'm sure he does, since he never gets rid of any of his old stuff), he could let me borrow them.  I appreciate the suggestion.  Also, I'm interested in Pike-related stuff, so that book sounds interesting.  I'll see if I can find it.

On an unrelated note, how did they manage to make the Enterprise theme WORSE in season 3? The original version I didn't care for but I could understand it. Season 3's is just......ughhhhhhh. Was it done to spite the people who complained about the original? Feels that way.
