Additional Comment: I hope to improve on my original edit even though I’m not all that knowledgeable when it comes to fan editing. A lot of edits I wanted to do were not possible as I wanted to make this edit as almost identical to the workprint.
Your intention for this fanedit: To make a close approximation to the workprint as I can with some slight differences.

Sources: Alien Qudrilogy DVD & Anthology Blu Ray.

Hi All, it's been a while.
Last year my dad was diagnosed with cancer so i scraped all my editing projects and over time lost interest. Plus i didn't have the time to continue with any projects. Recently i re-watched my Alien 3 edit and i am still unhappy with it. Never was happy with it in all honesty but have decided to have another crack it and update it a bit now that the blu ray version has an all new audio track.
I have a bit of a cheeky favour to ask, does anyone have the ability to rip audio from Blu Ray? I desperatly need the PAL audio from both the Theatrical & Assembly cuts from the blu ray set before i can make a start.
I'm gonna attempt this with Sony Vegas 7 and i was thinking of having the workprint as a second disc.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks in Advance!
There is no PAL audio on the Blu-ray set, ALL versions released were region free.

I see, thanks :) ok, Just after the audio for both versions in general then, cheers mate.
I can give you the new (Blu-Ray) Assembly audio. Not until next week, but I can get it to you.

That will be great, thank you very much :)
Ok, going to start on the second disc which will be the workprint. Once i've managed to get both audio streams i need i can then get to work on the main feature.
Please include me in the list of "hell yeah I want this!" :)
Looking very forward to this, xeno_alpha_07! Can we get an update on the status?
Okay asterisk8, I can't seem to access it's description or member's comments, but this is available at fanedit.org currently. Or is that an earlier version? Can someone clarify this for me, as I can't access any info. there about that version's release date to let me know, as I say.

The version on fanedit.org is the first rushed cut i did which i'm not very happy with. I'm looking into doing an updated version with audio from the blu ray set.
I know it's been a while since i went to start this, i haven't forgotten it i just put it on hold. my dad passwed away back in September so i lost interest completely.
Once i get the elements i need to start this edit i will get right on it.
I'm sorry about your father, xeno_alpha_07.
Your edit does sound interesting though. The Blu-Ray audio is most impressive compared to the original
***update***
Someone kindy ripped The entire Alien 3 blu ray untouched for me and uploaded it. Been looking at some guides (on ripbot) and will be demuxing the audio soon. Hope i get thel done correctly, once done i can start to convert/encode to the correct format etc. Once thats done Need to rip the theatrical and assembly cuts from the quadrilogy DVD and the workprint for a deleted scenes section.
OK, i've started the main edit now. I just hope i did everything correct with the DTS to ac3 conversion etc. Both audio sets now sync up with mpeg 2 versions of both the theatrical and assembly cuts so fingers crossed everything turns out fine.
Sorry to hear of your sad news xeno_alpha_07
Will be interested to see what you come up with for this eventually. PM sent.
Hi guy's it's been a while. Hope your all doing well. I've started working on this again so will update the details as soon as the edit and DVD is complete.
Please do not use the ending that the director hated and fought against:
“I didn’t want to have the alien come out. I still don’t like the idea of the alien emerging. Originally she falls backwards, standing on the gantry, with an explosion of blood on her chest and this thing pushes out. It’s more a stigmata and she falls backwards into it.
“I never felt it was necessary to show the creature. I was very much against this and dragged my feet and said ‘I don’t believe in it, I don’t think it’s important to see the monster but if we’re going to do this we’re going to have to do something that has a little bit of top spin to it, something else going for it.
“No matter what cathartic experience we could expect from finally seeing the two strongest images from the first movie, the chest-burster and the character of Ripley, if we left the movie with her choking on her tongue they would feel worse going out of the film than they do now.
“I said ‘whatever happens she has to be in peace at the end.’ It has to be a sigh rather than gritting teeth and sweat. So we talked about it and went over and shot this blue-screen element. We were shooting that shot four days before the film opened, a completely ridiculous mess. I don’t know if it works.”

Already used it as people voted for me to keep the theatrical ending in.
Yes I see in version 1. you used it, but as it isn't in the Workprint (in fact it hadn't even been shot at that point) and it's clear that the director didn't want to include it I was hoping you would consider ditching it for the next version. It's not just Fincher, I always hated the chest-burster ending too. It was a forced change by the studios to differentiate it from Terminator 2.
