Well, I'm glad people like it!
Any suggestions to fine-tune it?
Aaah yes, I had a similar idea, but the amount of work scared me, haha!
Though... now that I look at it... the idea really could work well. I just need to make sure that R2's dome doesn't move too much in that one shot. If his dome is still, and the light never comes on, the change wouldn't be so hard to do in the end.
I'll have to experiment with that a little bit.

At risk of being insistant since we already managed this hypothesis, I yet have one suggestion to make, for you could have possibly forgotten it, which is to re arrange the shots so that it is the Republic who's active and the CSI reactive. It involves taking out one shot of obi wan (with the line "I think this is gonna be easy")
It would set the Republic (even more) in a rather operative mood.
ANAKIN - Master, General Grievou's ship is directly ahead.
OBI WAN (considering Anakin's information, launches the order) - ARC 4 do you copy? Mark my position and set your squad up right behind me"
ARC Pilot - We're on your tail (?) General Kenobi
- Shot of the ARC 170 fighters lining up -
- Shot of the Vulture droids "realising" there's an inminent Republic assault (1: 23)-
- Shot of the ARC 170 fighters closing formation behind the Jedi Fighters (1:45)-
- Shot of a couple of vultures flying towards the republic formation (1:42)
OBI WAN - Let them pass between us.
IF you hadn't forgotten it, but rejected it then I fully understand and I offer you my apologies for insisting.
Greetings

That was really fantastic.
Also, I love penguino's idea.

Oh, Mithrandir! I had forgotten about your idea. I really liked it, actually. I think it will improve the scene in a really good, but subtle way.
The thing is - when you first made the suggestion, I looked at the scene and was like "ugh, this will be kind of hard to make the music work. I'll do it later!" Then I forgot, haha. I'll put some effort into it and see how it works out.
And definitely, penguino's idea is something I'm going to attempt in the near future.
That being said - I'm going to be very occupied for the next five or six weeks. I'm going to be studying overseas for awhile, and I will not be able to work on my edit. At least not in a substantial way.

New MAD idea: at the end Obi-wan could "die" Something like this.
Emperor: Lord Vader, we have a new enemy. Obi-wan kenobi.
Vader: Yes, master.
Emperor: Kill him.
Vader: As you wish.
Then Vader would chase Obi-wan (Tie fighter vs Jedi fighter) and Obi would be hit and we would see his fighter smoking and falling in some atmosphere (maybe Tattoine).
This would explain why Uncle Owen thinks that he died, and would keep the surprise about Ben kenobi.
Owen could be Owen Skywalker and he could really be Anakin's brother.

Better idea: Padme is married with some senator. Anakin is just a lover, his last name is never mentioned. Padme is pregnent and everybody, but Obi-wan, thinks that her husband is the father. Then, when Anakin turns to the Dark Side we could reuse some scenes from his Fighter to create a scene where he blasts some Republic ship (a lot of senators were there).
Everything makes sense. Everybody will think that Luke's father is dead and Anakin/Vader killed him.

I'm not really considering REALLY radical changes.
Maybe these posts would be best suited for the Radical Redux thread?
Not bad ideas - just impossible for me, haha.
On another note - sorry for my absense!
I will now tell you that I will still be absent for another two weeks! *spins an obnoxious noise-maker*
I'm overseas until the end of July, so y'all are gonna have to wait until then for me to start up work again. HOWEVER! There are some BIG things brewing on this end. Hopefully everything works out the way I want it to!
I can't wait to share some of the newest developments! But alas, I'm stuck in Asia!

lucas really screwed up in making rots.it's like he totally forgot about rotj where leia talks about her mother.saying how she noticed she was really beautiful but also very sad.a newborn baby would have no memory of this.so lucas really screwed up there having given the babies away before padme even had em for at least a year.if there is anyways to correct this in either of these movies, that would make it more believable.instead of padme dying through childbirth, why couldn't she die being tortured by the emperor?the emperor trying to get her to tell him where her baby is.since he didn't know she had 2.oh well like i said lucas didn't think this through at all.
No, you are wrong: Leia remembering her mom's beauty and Padme dying during birth of Leia and Luke is not a contradiction. After all Leia never knew that she was adopted, so what she remembers as her mum wasn't Padme but her fostermother...

Even so, it's a problem. Just a forced harmonization, I think. The only way to really make it effective would be to have Padme live long enough to spend time with Leia before she dies. Killed would be more dramatic.
BUT! This is a change that's impossible with the source material, so I think it will have to remain an inconsistancy.

I looked up the specific quote from Return of the Jedi, and it seems like I was wrong as Luke asks something like "Do you remember your mom, your real mum?"
After which Leia thinks hard and then says yes...
So it's a mistake in the prequel to have let Padme die during the birth.

Right - it's either a mistake, or it's just really pathetically weak.
But... again, I really don't think there's a GOOD way to fix it. The whole end of the movie kind of falls apart if you take out Padme's death.
If somebody has a compelling idea of how to fix it, I'm all for that.

I am ready for the trials! In case you were not aware... The Cutter had a scene with a crying Natalie and a baby (Where the Heart is?) cut into the Alderaan sequence. That worked well.

Ah right, now I remember The Cutter's idea.
It was just so jarring, I think.
And the reason I said things fell apart was because of how the ending is originally edited. But thinking through how I have it edited right now, her dying is actually kind of forced-feeling now.
So I'll explore The Cutter's idea, but I'm still not sure if I like it.

Dude, I adore the Cutter's ida.
Think about it. How did Padme die? Not knowing is actually better. It's a mystery we not only don't need to know, but it actually helps retain the air of mystery the prequels lacked. It leaves it up to the audience to decide.
It's like in Avatar: The Last Airbender. They never revealed how Zuko's mother died.

Hello there!
I just recently stumbled upon this site in my curiosity of how other SW fans try to tackle their own way to 'fix' SW:ROTS, in the likes of how Andywan edits the OT.
I must say Aalenfae, after reading all these pages, I am really amazed so far with your work, and intrigued with the debate going on! I admit, at first, I didn't like the color change of Anakin's Jedi Star-fighter, being that in the old Clone Wars cartoon (non CGI version), that ship was always yellow (even at the end of the cartoon where then Epi III takes over of course) and just too accustomed to it being yellow, but your explanation of why you changed it, I guess I can live it, heh :P
People's take on Padmae, hm tough one, all I can say is that the Tantive IV goes straight to Alderean and Padmae gives birth on the ship. Then Kenobi explains how it's dangerous for the twins to stay together, and thus of course Kenobi offers to take the boy to Tatooine, and we can avoid the discussion of adopting Leia as we can assume Bail and his wife continue the raising of Leia when Padmae dies off. (Bits and pieces of course came from this thread already, just voicing my favor in early brought up suggestions).
I myself have been thinking up various scenarios of how SW:ROTS could be tweaked in a way that's not drastic/radical.
Not sure if you already addressed it (if you did, my apologizes), but how do you plan going on about Vader's assembly and his "Noooo" scream scene?
If you haven't put much thought into it, I would like to share my vision of that scene. The motive behind this new dialogue is that in my view, Vader would feel even greater hatred toward Kenobi for putting him in that kind of state (enduring the pain and having to be put into a mechanical suit), I mean, if you were in that kind of pain, wouldn't you be thinking of the person who put you in that position?
...Lord Vader rises from his operation table. Emperor Sidious walks closer to his new apprentice.
Sidious: "Can you hear me?"
Vader: "Yes, Master" (or whatever he said in the movie)
Sidious: "Excellent" Sidious with two low waving hand motions, he uses the Force to release Vader's wrist restraints. Vader freed, the new Dark Lord clinches both his fists and examines them. He feels the Dark Force Flowing through him stronger than before.
Vader: "I still sense my treacherous friend, Obi-Wan, alive"
Sidious: "Ah yes, Kenobi" with emphasis on Kenobi, "You will cross paths with him soon enough and destroy him! Come, I have even greater news, I have our clones in pursuit of Master Yoda who will not survive."
Vader: "Our conquest to galatic peace will be a smooth transition once all hidden Jedi are extinct, including Kenobi."
Sidious: "You will be reassured," as the two walked out of the building and onto a docking bay where a shuttle awaits them, "that we'll have no issues with that!" The Emperor chuckles his demonic laugh as the two board the shuttle (kind of laugh when Sidious and Vader are walking in hanger of the second Death Star)
Sketchy idea I have been thinking about, at best, I hope it gives you something to think about. (Thought about bringing up my idea since you had mentioned buying clothes and such, so why not do a scene of Sidious and Vader walking together? It would require a lot of work though...)
Anyway, this scene of course hints that Sidious hints at the super weapon, the Death Star.

I'm all for leaving the conditions of Padme's death unknown. You're right. The mystery would make things more interesting.
However, the reason I don't really like The Cutter's idea is just that it's so jarring. I guess because the clip doesn't really... match the cinematographic style of the rest of the shots? But it also might be his musical choice he used. That's why I'm going to experiment with the idea and see how it works. I haven't thrown it out yet.
TavorX:
Thanks for your idea. It certainly does get me thinking, as I've been planning on totally overhauling the dialogue in that scene.

That's wonderful!! New, thoughtful, dialogue should totally create a different, yet better, outlook for that scene!
By the way, I managed to find some rather rare footage (claims to be fan made, not 100% sure) some months ago of ROTS. Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iu7dzSyZK4&list=FL1FEzdish9PWbUvT4ytK4VA&index=21&feature=plpp_video

Another thing you could edit is the part in the movie where yoda is fighting sidious.Could you make it seem as if he is tired after fighting that much because he looks like a wussy when he just crawls away like that .But if you already have an idea about that scene i am fine with it.But if you don't, could you again make it seem as if he is tired after fighting and using up some much power :D thanks!
