DAYV! I got news on the twitter front! Rocco from http://fashionnewslive.com/ DM'ed me asking how he can help. I need you now to either through this thread or, via pm to tell me what I should DM him. If you check his site you'll see he's a media presense. So, what information should I tell him?

So that means your first target should be raising $1,100 as a deposit (that sounds reachable as a first phase).

In fact it seems like a good unit of fundraising to work towards (10 sweeps at raising the same target).

If you kept us appraised at how those sweeps were going it could help us donate to top up whatever you get from elsewhere.

Try not to think that way Dave.

It could be your last Christmas if this wasn't happening to you (it could be anyone's/everyone's last Christmas), you may have many more Christmases with your children.

Nobody knows the future.

Take each day as it comes, focus on trying to get well and raising awareness to the situation that you and many other people find themselves in.

It might help if you could find someone who knows you to log on and give us progress reports when you are too busy or too tired to do it.

As mentioned earlier it would also help people to get a grip on the situation by posting some documentation (with your personal details blanked out) and maybe a photo or two if you feel comfortable with that.

There is a generosity of spirit around here but there is also an understandable level of cynicism in society in general.

Everyone wishes the best for you but you really need money at the moment and people are more likely to give that if they understand your predicament more clearly.

Keep your chin up and your caps on.

I wouldn't like too much of my medical file going public either which is why I suggested blanking out particularly personal details (including details of any doctors who may be treating Dave).

I'm sure you guys noticed, but Jay sent out a mass mailer on the subject. Hope that gives this more attention, Dayv.

^Yes, I got that e-mail and I needed it. I tend to stick to a few threads and forget to browse the forum as often as I should. As a result, I didn't know about this situation until I got Jay's message.

I just read through the whole thread. I'm saddened by what is happening, of course, and I hope you will keep your chin up as much as you can. It's great to see the helpful spirit here. When I read about the car, it reminded me of a very similar incident that happened to some friends here. Their 4-year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia and is undergong treatments. During one visit to the hospital, the family's van was stolen from the parking lot. Another stupidly timed coincidence. Thankfully, they got their van back the next day and thankfully you got your car back too. ;)

I'm definitely willing to help out. (not as much as I might like, but some nonetheless) You're one of the good guys, DAYV. I've always enjoyed your posts and I'd like to keep on doing so.

P.S. Frink, I dunno if it was sent to every member (probably, though), but certainly to long-timers/regulars, so you'll probably get one once your ISP wakes up. :p

 

Yes, and right after I posted that up there, I remembered this comment Jay made in the e-mail:

"Even if it's just $1, getting that much from every forum member would provide over half of what Dayv needs to complete his treatments."

So yes, it is definitely everyone. :) If you still haven't gotten his message after a while, I can paste it here if you want.
